Thanks to our students and everyone involved for a great month at Eigoasis in June. It's very rewarding for us as teachers to see our students improving their English, others just having a great time. Learning anything is not a one way process. It takes a lot of work from the teacher to impart knowledge and skills in the right way and it takes a lot from the student to absorb, integrate and develop the knowledge and skills we impart.
Everyone has different reasons for learning English, but for steady improvement, we need regular study. Ofcourse 5 lessons everyday would be overkill. Nobody could absorb so much information. On the other hand taking one lesson a month would only have very minor benefits. It's hard to say what the ideal number of lessons a week to take would be, but from once a week upwards, you'll start to see improvements in your English, six times a week with lots of home study and you'll soon be putting some native speakers to shame. Two or three times a week would be a reasonable target.
Naturally, our lives dictate how much time we have to study or do our hobbies. That's just the way it goes. So I'm not talking to the people with important family commitments or hectic work schedules. I'm talking to the people who have enough free time, but stay at home watching TV or lying in bed thinking "Should I take a lesson today?......No. I'll do it next weekend" And so on. Get up! Get ready! Grab the bull by the horns and start studying hard because keen study brings results.
And that's the bottom line 'cos Phil says so!
