I'm always shocked by how many people don't listen to podcasts.
They're often well-produced. They're informative (if you pick the right ones).
And more importantly they're free!
Seriously, if you haven't already tapped the icon in the picture and searched for something you're interested in, then I urge you to try it.
There's podcasts that talk about anything from history to true crime, and ghost stories to learning English!
For example, here's the website of the BBC podcast. 'BBC Learning English - The English We Speak'. This podcast looks at a different English expression each episode. You can find the shows often at their own website or on the podcast app on the iPhone (I'm sure Android users have a similar app too).
Perhaps you haven't heard of podcasts before and you're wondering what they are exactly and how they work?
Well, a podcast isa series of digital audio files that are made available for downloading or listening on the Internet. Each individual audio file is known as a podcast episode. Podcasts are usually hosted by 1 or 2 people who lead a conversation about a topic. The conversations can be lively and chatty or serious and informative.
Personally, I listen to podcasts about history (World War 2 and the Roman Empire), Formula 1, and a few on ghost stories, and British stand-up comdians.
So, when you have time, give the icon a tap and see what you can find!
I hope everyone is doing well and stays safe from the heat recently pouring from the sky, day in, day out. I only posted a message about rainy season two weeks ago and look how things have changed! Although there’s a time when we all enjoy busking in the sun, the reality of heatwaves is that they can be more of a menace than genuine pleasure. Below are just a few caution points to note:
1. Getting on your bicycle after it’s been parked in a sunny spot (ouch!)
2. Face towels don’t fit the bill. Get a bath robe or windscreen wipers.
3. Cooling down with lots of icy drinks and air conditioning may come with a nasty sore throat.
