Recently I'm kind of addicted to these "Tsuke-mono," the Japanese style pickles. I found out I can make it home instantly and very healthy and delicious! But I cheat a bit... I use magic powder called "1時間漬:ふりかけタイプ." It seems to include seeweed powder and salt etc and you can find it in Japanese supermarket like Sunrise or Jas Mart. So all you have to do is to cut or slice your favorite vegetabe and mix it with very little amount of the powder, usually less than one tea spoon. You can decide how much according to your preference. I don't like saltiness. So I put only a bit. And at the end, I add the dried hot pepper for bit of spiciness. You can eat it as it is or it's great with rice.
