Opposition lawmakers said they would use their new control over the upper house to extract more information about the exact nature of Japan military assistance in the Indian Ocean.
(野党は、インド洋上の日本の軍事的な支援の正確な状況について、参院における新しい権限を使って、もっと情報をとろうとするだろう。)
Kenji Eda, an independent lawmaker, said some of the oil supplied by Japan might have been used in Iraq instead of Afghanistan, and in other ways that possibly contravened Japan antiterrorism law. The government has denied the charges.
(インデペンデント【独立系】の江田憲司氏は、いくらかの油がアフガニスタンの代わりにイラクにも使われたのではないか、テロ特措法に違反するようなやり方が行われたのはないかと指摘した。政府は否定している。)
The actual conditions surrounding the refueling mission have barely been explained,・Mr. Eda, who has pressed the government to release more details, said in an interview. Until now, the governing party used its large majority to easily extend the law.
(この給油活動の実態は、ほとんど説明されてこなかった、と江田氏は言う。そして、政府に対し、もっと詳細を明らかにするよう求めた。これまでは、与党は、議会での大多数を利用して、容易にこの法律を延長してきた。)
