Kaze
I seem to have caught a cold......![]()
I 've been staying in bed for a couple of days, taking some medicine, and now I 'm getting better.
As soon as I get well, I will be back![]()
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
The other day, I went to a book shop to look for some books for my English reading practice.
I've read several books and found that it works to build my reading and writing skills.
I also found that it's important to choose one that suits your level, because you can't enjoy it nor won't be able to finish reading it if it's too hard for you.
So, this time I chose Charlie and the Chocolate Factory,
It's for youngadults ![]()
![]()
Today I've finished it at last.
It was just right level for me (。・ε・。)
I've watched the movie before, not the one Johnny Depp was in but the original one, and already knew how this story goes, but some parts of the story were different from the original movie, so I could enjoy it very much.
Oompa Loompas were so cute ![]()
![]()
I liked their dancing and singing!!
What should I read next?
I will probably return to the youngadults section.
My sweet babies
It's a nice day today.
My papaya seedlings are growing pretty well (´∀`)
They are about three centimeters tall right now, having a few small true leaves besides two seed leaves.
I'm going to transplant some of them to a larger pot to make them comfortable, hoping that they will grow faster....
I'm taking care of them as if they were my babies (*゚ー゚*)
Supposedly, it will produce some fruits by this time of next year...
But I'm going back to Japan in the end of Oct of this year (ノ゚⊿゚)ノ !!!
Plus, I can't bring them to Japan with me.
How unlucky I am not being able to see them having some fruits.....
The only way would be come back here to see it....
I guess I need to find someone who can keep them instead of me.
I may ask my boyfriend's mom.
Nice experience
Yesterday, I went to Lion Coffee's factory with my boyfriend.
Lion Coffee is a coffee company in Honolulu, similar to Star Bucks, but with not as many shops.
The factory has a nice friendly little cafe which could seat about 15 people. You can have some coffee, sandwiches or pastries while you browse for some souvenirs.
This picture was taken from one of the tables.
There were just a couple of girls working behind the counter, and no other customers besides us.
The entrance to the cafe is on the left and the passage in the middle leads to the factory.
Funny music was playing and one of the girls was dancing until she noticed us waiting at the counter (`∀´)
We bought a sandwich to share as well as two drinks, a bottle of vanilla macademia coffee and a 7up.
They were quite reasonable. Everythig was a little over $6.
The coffee was very nice, I could taste both the vanilla and the macademia flavors. It works well together.
The sandwich was OK. It was turkey, lettuce and tomato in wheat bread.
There were nothing else around there, and it seemed to be kind of hard to find it. I guess that's why there were no other customers.
But it was a place which people should try visiting.
Though I tried a bottle of coffee, you can also try fresh coffee with many different flavors such as choco macademia!!
If you have a chance to visit Honolulu, you may try it....![]()
Rewrite of Beach Debut
It's getting so exciting to see that the more people are visiting my blog, the more I post !!
Thank you, everyone who visited here !
I'm really happy about that (*^o^*)
Well, one of my friends also visited my blog.
I was happy and a little bit nervous...because I knew there must be lots of errors in my texts.
At the same time I was so curious about what he thought about my blog that I asked him for some comments on my blog.
Then, he told me that it was interesting and English was almost alright.
( ↑He said something like that.. )
o(^▽^)o Wow, maybe my English has gottten better since I came to Hawaii?? , I thought.
However, he also said one more thing.
It was that "Beach Debut", one of my posts, was terrible and had a lot of errors or almost everything was mistaken.
(;´▽`A`` Soudesuka...Gambarimasu....
That is why Im going to rewrite the post here.
Let me review each sentence and rewrite .
* Anybody who wants to save time, just read the whole rewritten version which is at the bottom of this post. ↓↓↓
Though I might have written here already, I have been here in Hawaii for almost 4 months.
At last, I went to the beach to swim with my boyfriend and his family (o^-')b
I think these are ok. So, I will just leave them as they are.
The beach I went is about 30 mins away from where I live next to kahara beach, which was full and no one could go in at the time.
Ummm....probably it doesn't make any sense......?
Ah, plus, one correction.
The beach was not next to Kahara beach but some other beach. (・・。)ゞ
How about this.
The beach next to *** was about 30 mins away from my place, and *** was too crowed to go in at the time.
Does it make sense???
First, we had spagetti for lunch, then went to the beach.
I found a spelling error in this sentence.
Spagetti has to be spaghetti, right?
Also, since we were already at the beach, I have to write "went to play"?
So, the correct sentence would be
First, we had spaghetti for lunch, then went to swim. .
Since the beach was private, not many people were there.
I think this is alright.
But waves were a kind of rough and there were no sand beach to lay down, so we didnt have anything to do but swiming.
One more spelling error. Not swiming but swimming.
You dont need to put "a" befire kind I think.
Waves were kind of rough and there was no sandy area to lay down, so we didnt have anything to do but swimimng.
What do you think?
Sounds better?
Anyway we enjoyed it.
No correction.
I played with a baseball bat shaped ballon, which were not supporsed to be used in water...but it was fine and helped me a lot.
I will change "were" between which and not to "was", and also change "supporsed" to "supposed".
I played with a baseball bat shaped ballon, which was not supposed to be used in water, but it was fine and helped me a lot.
Next,
I could experience riding a wave with it for the first time in my life.
Riding on the waves would be better...
I could experience riding on the waves useing it for the first time in my life.
It was very very exciting.
No correction.
I want to try it with a bodybord next time.
Umm, this is more like written in Japanese...
I'll make it simple.
I want to try bodyboarding next time.
Is this better?
Maybe it is the right way to ride a wave (・ω・)/
Oh, it's the same error as before.
I guess it's the right way to ride on the waves (・ω・)/
Also, it would be great if I can go diving or snorkeling.
I guess it's ok but,
Also, it would be great if I could go diving or snorkeling.
might be better.
We swam for about 2 hours. We were exhausted, so we went back and slept.......
It might be ok, too. but it doesn't sound natural.
We swam for about 2 hours. We were exhausted, so we went to sleep as soon as we got back .......
I'm not sure if my corrections are all good....
I added some more corrections and rewrote the whole text.
***** Rewrite *****

Does it make sense better than the original??
I will ask my friend.
Ahhh, tukareta. I'm off ヾ( ´ー`)
A good practice for translations
My teacher taught me a good way to practice translations.
After translating one language to another, let's say, English to Japanese, translate the Japanese text back to English again without seeing the original.
The purpose is not to get it back, completely in every detail, but to make it make the same sense as the original text.
It will work better and also be harder to do, if you wait a little while until you forget the original text.
I tried it once and found it was very hard for me, but it might be a good practice.

At the airport in France vol.1
When my friend and I got to Charles de Gaulle International Airport, which is located about 30mins northeasten of Paris, around 8, I was feeling sick and couldnt even walk normaly.
How unlucky I was... ! !
I didnt have any other way but wait in line for an immigration examination. So, I was sitting in line and walked little by little as the line moved. It must have been a really exciting time....( p_q)
Im very healthy usually and hardly get sick. But somehow, something like this came up when I had to be alright.
In the meantime, we went through the immigration and got our luggage back, and she left me to find where a clinic was.
I was sitting on a bench right next to the exit of the immigration, keeping eye on our luggage.
I was feeling the worst. (x_x;)
I looked around and found there were many other countries people. I seemed to be the only Japanese there.
I felt so lonely.
I could see her talking to some girls over there, maybe asking where a clinic was...
Come to think of it, before this trip, she said that she relyed on my English. I could be the one helping her when we had a trouble......
I decided to try not to get her in trouble because of me as hard as I could, I was like that tho....(><;)
She came back and let me know that one clinic was in the building.
We walked quite a long way and got to a clinic.
I remember it costed just 20 euro to get a medical check.
I saw a doctor, who was a old french man and could speak English.
I explained to him how I felt in my poor English and he asked me some questions.
After checking, he asked me,
"Are you traveling? "
"Yes." I answerd.
"How long are you going to stay in Paris?"
"Umm, about 3 days?" I said.
He stared at me and said,
"Your condition is very very bad. ..................Influenza. "
"Eh???!!!"
"Influenza. You must stay in bed at least for 3 days, alright?"
No, I can't!!
Because I have to eat croissants, sandwiches, crapes and a lot more !! I must go to many places like Arc de Triomphe, Louvre Museum to meet Nike of Samothrace and Mona Lisa and more !!!!!!
Above all, I can't tell her to look around by herself for 3 days!!
Ok, maybe I couldn't understand what he said just before.
I will be fine by tomorrow morning, right!!! 神様 !! (ロ≦〃)
I left there, went to a phamacy to get some medicine, and met her.
Let's get our trip started again, now that we have to find a place to stay ..... Its 10 oclock at night tho w !
I wished I woud be a better traveler.. I would be more organized...from the bottom of my heart.
Headache
Ive had a headache for the last couple of months and it is bothering me so much!!
My boyfriend told me that was because of my bad posture, but I doubted it because my posture has been bad for almost as long as I have been living, but my headache just started a couple months ago.
As I couldnt be botherd anymore, I went to see a doctor.
He said it is because of my posture when I use a PC.
Naruhodo... you can say that again.....w Plus, since a couple months ago, I use a Pc for about 5 hours a day. No wonder...
I think it is a time for me to change my bad habit.
But while Im at it, I am still using a pc......
I cant do anything without a pc nowadays, right?????
But I had better take care of myself.
So, Im going to watch some DVDs!!!
Europe
From today, Im going to write about my trip to Europe little by little.
As I wrote in my profile, I love traveling.
One of my friends, who also likes to travel and has been to several countries by herself, asked me to go to Europe with her as a "graduation trip". I dont know if american students do this, but many japanese college students travel when they graduate from colleges. We call it a "graduation trip". I guess everyone should know though.
Europe was a place I always wanted to go, so I decided quickly and said "SURE !!!", imagining eating pasta and pizza in Roma ヘ(゚∀゚*)ノ,.... without knowing what was going to happen during the trip,,,,,, ∑(゚Д゚)
Immediately, I bought a europe version of "chiku no arukikata", which is very famous guide book series and covers most touristy countries and areas.
