miles, my wife and i went to a persian restaurant, and later kai-san and megumi-san joined. there, we enjoyed kebab dish. after a period of time, restaurant staff asked us to move toward walls so that there would be some space in the center. it seemed like something was going to happen. and as we all anticipated, belly dance show started.

soon, i was kind of like concerned if a dancer asked me to be on the floor with her as i was closest to the floor. bingo! the dancer approached to me and took my hand to lead to the dance floor. you know how i reacted..... everyone was laughing out loud to see my reaction. that was the close shave moment.

later, kai-san, who sat right next to me, told me that he was as nervous as me and wished the show to end as soon as possible.

マイルズとうちの奥さんと一緒にペルシャ料理のレストランへ。後でカイさん、メグミさんも合流し、ケバブ料理を堪能。しばらくすると、レストランのスタッフが席を壁側に移動するよう尋ねてきたんですよ。そうすることでレストランの真ん中にスペースを設けることができるようになる、と。こりゃあ、何かが始まるなと思っていたら、予想通りベリー・ダンスのショーが始まったわけです。

程なくして、「もしかしたらフロアに誘われたり…なんてことはないよな」といった一抹の不安がよぎったわけです。というのも、自分が座っていた場所はフロアに一番近かったんですよ。で、案の定、ダンサーさんが僕のところに近寄ってきまして僕の手を取り、フロアに誘ってきたわけです。僕の反応は…、想像つきますよね。で、まわりはというと、みんな僕の反応に大笑い。いや～、あれは本当に冷や汗もんでした。

カイさんも僕と全く同じくかなりナーバスな気持ちだったようで、早く終わらないかと祈っていたそうです。

uploading tips for let's mix!

i see some people coming to my blog site to find out about the upload error occurred in let's mix! so, i will write what i did in my recent upload.

first, i exported my mix from let's mix editor. to do this, click the mix you would like to upload and click menu on the top left coner of the editor, and then click "export." The export work then begins. the file format of the exported mix will be ogg file, which is a problem as the let's mix website only accepts mp3 files. so, we need to convert ogg file to mp3 file.

let's mix!でのアップロードのエラーに関する検索でこちらに来ている方がいらっしゃるようですので、最近アップした時の手順を記載します。

まずはlet's mix editorからミックスをエクスポートします。アップしたいミックスをクリックし、それからeditorの左上にあるメニューをクリックして「エクスポート」をクリックします。すると、エクスポートが始まります。エクスポートされたミックスのファイル形式はoggで、これが問題になるわけです。と言うのも、let's mix!のサイトに直接アップできるファイル形式はmp3のみなんです。と言うわけで、このoggファイルをmp3に変換する必要があります。

i tried several conversion software and the one worked for me was audacity, which a staff at let's mix! told me. there are two versions available (for mac, there is an older version 1.0 series): 1.2 and 1.3 (beta). pick whichever you would like to use and download.

幾つかの変換ソフトを試してみたんですが、うまくいったのはlet's mix!のスタッフが教えてくれたaudacityです。今のところ、2つのバージョンがあります（マックの場合は古い1.0シリーズも）。1.2と1.3（ベータ版）のシリーズです。どちらかお好みのバージョンを選び、ダウンロードしてください。日本語サイトに飛ぶので分かりやすいです。僕の場合は1.2と1.3の両方を落としたんですが、使ったのは1.3でした。

next, you also need to download "lame mp3 encoder" in order to convert the file to mp3. without this, you cannot convert your mix in ogg file to mp3.

次に、mp3ファイルに変換するためにはもう1つ、「lame mp3エンコーダー」というものもダウンロードする必要があります。これがないとogg形式のミックスをmp3に変換できません。こちらも日本語での説明があります。

activating the sfotware/ソフトの起動：

when you activate audacity software, the software asks you to locate "lame mp3 encoder." so, please locate lame mp3 encoder you downloaded. now, the software is in working condition.

audacityのソフトを起動すると、「lame mp3エンコーダー」の保存先を参照するようなメッセージが出てきますので、保存先を指定します。これでソフトが使える状態になります。

using the software/ソフトの使用：

importing file/ファイルの取り込み：

to convert your file, you simply open or import your ogg file. and then a window pops up and asks you to choose streaming to import.

ファイルを変換するために、ファイルを「開く」または「取り込み」→「オーディオの取り込み」でファイルを取り込みます。いずれかをクリック。すると、「読み込むためのストリームを選択」という画面が出てきます。

in my case, my mix was a little more than an hour and 3rd/4th worked (1st and 2nd could only import about 30 min of my mix). import will take a time depending on the file size.

このストリームの選択ですが、自分のミックスは1時間ちょいでして、3番目と4番目が全部を取り込めました（1番目・2番目では30分程度しか取り込めませんでした）。ファイルのサイズによっては取り込むのに結構時間がかかります。

once you imported the file, then proceed to convert the file to mp3 by clicking export. again, this will take a while depending on your file size.

ファイルの取り込みが完了したら、「メニュー」→「書き出し」でmp3ファイルへと変換します。ここでもファイルのサイズによっては時間がかかります。

＊audacityには様々な機能があり、色々と編集できるようですので必要に応じて編集してください。勿論、そのまま書き出しに進んでも問題ありません。

once you specify your file, upload will automatically start. click "edit" to add track names, times, description, etc. this is the basic procedure to convert file and upload the file to the website.

ファイルを指定すると自動的にアップロードが始まります。「edit」をクリックしてトラック名や時間、説明などを入力します。これがファイル形式の変換、サイトへのアップの基本手順となります。

transfer mix from another platform/

他のサイトにアップしているミックスをlet's mix!のサイトにアップ：

if you have your mixes uploaded in another site, you can transfer your mixes to let's mix (new function)! click "upload your mix" on the site as described above, enter url of the site your mix is uploaded and click "get the file."

もしも、他のサイトにミックスをアップしている場合、let's mix!のサイトにもアップできるようです（新機能）！ これで一元管理できるようになります。まずは上記同様にlet's mix!のトップページ右側の「upload your mix」をクリックし、次の画面の右側に他のサイトでアップしているミックスのurlを入力して「get the file」をクリック。

ogg to mp3

thanks to my pc's hard work, i could export my mix from let's mix editor; however, the file format was ogg..... no other file formats can be selected. and the only file format that let's mix website can accept to upload is mp3, which doesn't make sense at all. so, i need to convert my ogg file to mp3 file. i searched and tried several conversion software but i could only import less than half of the file. i don't know if i needed to do some settings but none of the sofware worked..... why can't i go smooth.

pcが頑張ってくれたお陰で、めでたくlet's mix editorからミックスをエクスポートすることに成功。ですが、ファイルがoggなんですよね・・・。しかもogg以外のファイル形式は選べない。それでいて、let's mixのサイトにアップできるファイルはmp3のみ。全くもって意味不明。と言うわけでファイル変換ソフトを探し、幾つか試してみたんですが、ファイルの半分もインポートできない状態。設定が必要だったのかどうかは分かりませんが、どれもうまく機能せず。本当にもうなんでこうなるかな～。

sever system malfunction

i have been trying to upload my new mix but every time i tried, above message popped up. i contacted let's mix and they told me that they are is having server system malfunction, and we cannot publish (upload) mixes to their server because of this problem. according to let's mix!, the best way to upload mixes at this moment is to export the mixes as mp3 files and upload (not through let's mix editor).

however, my pc shuts itself down while exporting; therefore, i cannot upload my mix..... so the only thing i could do at this moment is to wait until their server recovers. fingers crossed.

新しいミックスをアップしようとしていたんですが、アップしようとする度に上のようなエラー・メッセージが出ちゃいまして。で、let's mix!に問い合わせてみたところ、現在、サーバーに障害が発生しているようでパブリッシュ（アップロード）できない状態にあるようです。今のところ、唯一のアップロードの方法は、let's mjx editorからアップロードするのではなく、ひとまずミックスをmp3ファイルとしてlet's mix editorからエクスポートし、そのファイルをlet's mix!のサイトにアップするという方法（新しい機能）だそうです。

しかしながら、エクスポート作業中にうちのpc落ちちゃうんですよね…。というわけで、僕の場合はサーバー復旧を待つしかないようです。頼むぜ！
