a mix cd by coldcut who rund ninja tune . this mix cd has variety of tracks ranging from jungle, hip hop, jazzy stuff, downtempo to dr who's theme. selected music are symbolized stuff of the era when the word "acid jazz" took root and so-called "hardcore breakbeats" changed to "jungle." not only great sense of seleting the music but also their mixing skill is really excellent and it's been 10 years (already 10 years!!) but the cd is still fierce!!

this mix cd was the free gift added to his sticker sold in his web site (http://www.scotthardkiss.com/ ). the cd starts with impressive guitar intro and garadually shift to hard house and ends with richie havens "going back to my roots." i don't know about now as i have not heard his dj play recently but he used to put one song which relates to his musical roots at the end of his play.

i have been checking...

finally, i too have started this.

there is no specific reason why i started this weblog but let's say it is for recording purpose.

basically, i would like to write about music (so-called club music) being the center part and other miscellaneous stuff... please note that all the articles written here are based upon my personal opinion and bias.

I write in both english and japanese. the reason is that i don't want to forget what i learned　from my experience through study abroad in the states. writing whatever i like to write in english, this is surely a good way to keep my english skill.

i kind of writing but it takes really long time for me as i think this and that....when i write and this is the fatiguing part.

one more thing. i started this weblog since yesterday and because i used the word "hardkiss," there has been many of horny track-backs... any ways to prevent??

this is a double-cd live mix released from mark farina's om records. in my personal opinion, tracks in cds are the san fran & chicago house style and are surely great cds. shouts of audiences are effectively used in the cds and adds live flavour. both cds are really excellent and best buy.

mark farina's mix starts with bumpin house and goes to jt donaldson's jazz house track that upright bass riff was effectively rooped and then the mix goes to mark farina's own house music journey. he is very busy flying around the world and that added his chicago style yet go beyond and become his own house style. excellent!!! by the way, when i lived in the states and visited scott's (hardkiss) duplex, the man who welcomed us at the door was mark farina. i was very much surprised by that.

マーク・ファリーナのミックスはバンピンなハウス・トラックからジャズ物のベース・ラインが効果的にループされたjtドナルドソンのジャズ・ハウスへと流れ、そこからは彼独特のシカゴをベースとしつつもワールドワイドに飛び回り続ける彼ならではのハウス・ミュージック・スタイルへと続く。最高～!!!　予断ですが、以前に米国に住んでいた際にスコット（ハードキス）の家を訪れたら、玄関で出迎えてくれたのがマーク・ファリーナでした。いやはや、ビックリしましたよ。

next is derrick carter. he is the world-famous dj and produer, and he runs classic music company , which is a record label, with luke solomon. he often came down to the town where I used live (in the states) to play at parties, so I always went there to enjoy his play. what is great about him is not only his track selection but also his overwhelming mixing skill. well, let's talk about the mix cd. this is the excellent cd!! it is true chicago house style!!! I cannot stop myself getting grooved when i listen to the cd. he released many mix cds but in my opinion, this one surely ranked topnotch along with the non-stop mix of cajual records (many shades of cajual). it's like "this is fierce men!!" especially the saxophone break of stacy kidd & melvin meeks' "let love enter."

続いてデリック・カーター。シカゴを代表する世界的DJであり、プロデューサーであり、ルーク・ソロモンとクラシック・ミュージック・カンパニー というレーベルを主催。彼は自分が住んでいた町（米国）のパーティによく来てプレイしていたので、来たときは欠かさず行ってました。選曲もさることながら、彼の超絶ミックス・スキルにはもう脱帽です。さて、ミックスｃｄですが、これがまた素晴らしい!!内容。もう、まさに直球シカゴ・ハウス!!!普通に聴いてても、自分の中では盛り上がらずに入れません。これまで数多くのミックス物をリリースしていますが、個人的にはカジュアル・レコーズ のレーベル・アーティストのみのミックス（メニー・シェイズ・オブ・カジュアル）と同じくらいフィア～ス・メ～ン!!ってな感じです。特にスティシー・キッド＆メルヴィン・ミークス”レット・ラヴ・エンター”ブレイクのサックスにはもうしびれてしまいます。

by the way, i saw the article about this mix cd in a free music magazine and in the article, it was described as "weirdo house." weirdo house... well..... japan tends to welcome so-called new york style but..... ouch.

予断ですが、某フリー・ミュージック雑誌にこのミックスｃｄが紹介されていましたが、その紹介文の中で「変態ハウス」などと書かれていました。変態ハウスって、そりゃあんた・・・。日本は米国で言えばニューヨーク物になびく傾向がありますからね。アイタタ。

レインクライはdelusions of grandeurにも収録された曲で、雨の音で始まるブレイク・ビーツな曲（抽象的な表現ばかりですいません）。アメリカでは確か、ＣＭか映画か何かに使用されたような・・・。

this is the white vinyl promo version of the phoenix. the guitar riff was rearranged and played by studio musician. additional edit version by starfucker was added to this promo, which was not included in the original promo.

hardkiss is the unit based in san fran (at that time) and formed by so-called "hardkiss brothers" who are scott hardkiss (god within), gavin hardkiss (hawke) and robbie hardkiss (little wing). each of them released tracks and did many remix works, one of influencial people in west coast. however, they split up now.

this album was released in 1995, from their own hardkiss label. the album contains full of spiritual and psychedelic sounds (not to be meant by today's trance music).

ハードキスはサンフランを拠点とした（当時）、スコット・ハードキス（ゴッド・ウィズイン）、ゲイヴィン・ハードキス（ホーク）、そしてロビー・ハードキス（リトル・ウィング）の3名の「ハードキス・ブラザーズ（実際の姉妹ではない）」で構成されたユニットですが、各々が曲をリリースしたりリミックス・ワークを行ったりと、西海岸を代表するアーティストです（でも、現在はバラバラになってしまいました）。

1995年にハードキス・レーベルからリリース。当時の西海岸（特にサンフラン）を代表する、特有のスピリチュアルかつサイケデリック（今のトランスではなく）なサウンド満載。
