my usual bass colors are black, gray and white. quite simply, it's because those colors are easy to match up one another. i sometimes add accent colors such as blue, red, etc. but i don't have such coloring sense. so, i always admire those who wear clothes in great colorways.
wear palettes : this is an interesting site as it extract colors from the fashon in the pics and shows them in palettes. maybe, you can learn some from those colorway technicians.
