Malcolm Gladwell is a writer for a famous magazine in the US called “the New Yorker”.
(Pointing to a list of his books attached on a white board)
But he is even more famous for these three books he has written in recent years. .
These all have been very popular in the US.
Tonight, I highly recommend that you read his second book, titled “blink- the power of thinking without thinking “, published in 2005.
Gladwell here is talking about how people make decisions very quickly, much quickly than you might expect.
Many of us have been taught not to make quick decisions and instead to search for more information and think about it.
(showing the book)
But “Blink” uses many examples to show that people can sometimes make better decisions when they make them quickly.
In one of the examples in his book, he talks about a piece of art which the Getty Museum in Los Angels bought after many experts did a lot of tests and studies on it and proved an original piece of ancient art.
But then the other experts came and had just one quick look, they said that it was a fake.
There are many times when people make quick decisions they can’t tell exactly why they think that is true.
This is a book that analyzes the first two seconds of looking.
I really enjoyed reading this book because he is a very clear writer and interesting storyteller as well.
I think you would also enjoy the subject of this book.
