It is important to check with your pharmacist which medicines are currently recommended to prevent malaria in the country you are travelling to. When used to prevent malaria, doxycycline should be started two days before you travel to the malarious region. You should continue taking it every day throughout your stay, and for a further four weeks after leaving.
