It was bible study again this evening. As I arrived at Ted and Terry's, everyone was enjoying looking at some wedding photos. Terry had done a terrific job at arranging the flowers for the bouquets. The choice of unique flowers, capturing the eye. Everything looked beautiful especially the bride. She was a statement of loveliness.
As I arrived at the bottom of the stairs, John came to greet me. Before I had sat down he lifted his hand up to me, holding something in his fist. He turned his hand and uncurled his fingers. There in the palm of his hand was a delicately carved butterfly. He said "this is for you instead of the flowers that you normally get." I had shared at bible study last week, the story of my house being blessed with flowers over the last seven months. Now I have a beautiful wooden butterfly brooch, to remind me of Gods love and faithfulness. John told me he carved it from wood called "purple heart", to represent the colour of the King. John knows that Jesus is my king. He is John's king too. I give glory to God, as his faithfulness continues to impact my daily life and I look to him for my strength and my security.
I thanked John and gave him a little kiss on his cheek. I pinned the small butterfly on to my dress, close to my heart, now filled with warmth, at the kindness and generosity of my friend. I feel so loved and spoilt.
