On Monday the 16th of March, I organised to test drive the Mitsubishi Mirage again. Janet, my other good friend was already at the car yard waiting when Mika and I arrived. Ian had the silver Mirage ready for us. It looked good. I felt comfortable and sophisticated sitting in the drivers seat. Janet sat in the back and shared her valuable opinion with us and supported my driving. I was happy with the car's performance on the highway, overtaking and the hills.
We were gone for about 40 minutes. Back at the car yard, we sat opposite Ian, with me sitting in the middle of Mika and Janet, looking Ian in the eye "Is that your best price? " I asked. "Yes" he replied. Janet said "Its about $2000 over budget" Ian showed us a piece of paper revealing he was only making $200 on the car. Mika wasn't convinced. I still wasn't ready to purchase. I wanted to revisit the Nissan Pulsar. Ian's face didn't change but his eyes revealed his frustration.
We ambled over to the Nissan dealer and I was already feeling hungry. My early toast and marmalade had worn off. Then my sandal strap broke.. High heels too. It was a bit tricky walking, as my toes clenched the shoe to hold it in place. We looked at a couple of cars but I had begun to lose the mood for shopping and when the Nissan dealer man appeared rude toward Mika at a request to negotiate, I totally lost interest. As we walked away my other sandal strap broke. Janet said " if you are going to wear $5 shoes (which they were) then you need to remember to bring another pair. We laughed as I tried to grip my shoes, with stiff legs trying to keep my shoes on and look dignified. Through a series of circumstances, in 10 short minutes, I had totally lost interest in Nissan. I was trusting God for direction and he was pointed me away from there, quick smart.
We farewelled Janet. She had a lunch date with her Dad and Mika and I decided to have Yum Cha. I was determined to walk into the restaurant with dignity, in my broken shoes, believing that bare feet would draw more attention. Little shuffling steps eventually got me inside the restaurant with Mika patiently walking beside me. It was yummy food. I rang Lindsay to update him on the recent news about the car. He was very encouraging as always.
Now I had to decide. Was I going to buy the silver Mirage and organise finance or not? My mind was very distracted as I pondered the question wanting to make the right choice. What did God want me to do?
Now for the slow shuffle back to the car. Before we drove away from the restaurant car park, we prayed that God would give me wisdom to make the right choice. The back seat of the car, revealed a cutting from an overhanging ornamental grape vine that we had acquired. Driving, we passed by the Mitsubishi dealership. I had decided that if I needed to speak to Ian again I would phone him. Somehow I had to find a better price to keep within my budget.
