Astragalus & Telomerase Can Reverse Your Age
In the effort to slow the aging of the human body a new technology is developing. In 1975 it was discovered that there is a binding (or wrapping) at the ends of the chromosomes in all the cells that make up our bodies. These bindings (telomeres) are what keep the chromosomes from unraveling. Imagine it as the binding at the ends of shoelaces which serve to keep the laces from unraveling. Each time a cell splits to reproduce, the chromosomes must be duplicated so that the new cell will have a complete set chromosomes that duplicate those in the parent cell. Every time the chromosomes split to make new cells, the telomeres become very slightly shorter. Over many years as the telomeres become shorter and shorter, they are less able to keep things from becoming unraveled. Shortening of the telomeres cause many of the effects of aging There is a direct correlation between the extent of the shortening of the telomeres and the degree of aging. Therefore it is logical to believe that if we can repair and lengthen telomeres, it may be possible to, at least partially, reverse the visible and invisible effects of aging.
Some scientists believe that the maximum potential human life span is limited to about 120 years. They believe that 120 years is the maximum number of years it takes for the telomeres to shorten to the extent that they can no longer prevent the chromosomes from unraveling, and enough of the genes, within the 46 paired chromosomes will be lost. When the cells can no longer self-replicate, rapid degeneration of the body will occur, followed by death.
But, here is the good news: There is a way to slow the shortening of the telomeres. There is also the possibility of restoring some of their length which was previously lost. The length of telomeres may explain the June 2010 discovery by Indonesian census officials of a 157 year old woman living on the island of Sumatra in perfect health. She is now 158 years old, at the time of this writing. Her name is Turinah. This woman is not senile and not disabled. She does her own cooking and house keeping. Her adopted daughter is also in good health at age 109. Sumatra was a Dutch colony When she was born, but they left Sumatra well over 100 years ago. Turinah still speaks fluent Dutch. The questions that should motivate longevity researchers to study this woman’s diet and life-style, are: What caused this amazing example of longevity? Is it a result of something in the woman’s diet that has slowed the shortening of telomeres in the cells of her body, or is it perhaps a combination of factors including diet, trace minerals in the water, air purity, and life-style that may have induced the preservation of the telomeres? Whatever it is in her case, The longevity of this lady disproves the theory that 120 years is the maximum possible human life-span. Please do not reject the age of these women as unbelievable. It is very easy to verify the facts by researching the source on Internet. For your convenience, Key search phrases you may use to verify the story about the old woman are suggested below:
