人は社会の中にいる限り、
誰もがいくつもの仮面を
着けながら
自分探しをしている。
自分のアイデンティティが
わからなくなっている人が多い。
「本当の自分がみつかればいい」
という願いが
曲にこもっているんだ。
と、インタビューに
メンバーが答えている。
こんな爽やかな曲の中に、
「どきっ」とするような
メッセージが隠されている。
大したもんだなー。
美しいメロディとポップなセンスが
魅力のメイレイ。
2007年の
「Built To Last～永遠のハーモニー」の
ヒットのおかげで、ここ日本でも
美メロバンドとして支持を受けている。
この曲が収録されている同名の
アルバムもキラキラ＆爽やかな
イメージは残しつつも、
ロックやパンク的なアプローチを
押し進めている。
どの曲も、
聴いててハッピーになり
テンションが上がってくる。
こんなにピアノが心地よく、
ポップソングばかり書ける
バンドなのに、残念ながら
本国アメリカでのヒットはなく、
日本やイギリスでの人気の方が高い。
この曲もセミナーの一部で使用
しているが、会場の迫力のある
重低音でイントロを聴くとまた、
氣持ちいい～。

～アルバム全体を通してのテーマは
リアリティを見つけるということ。
アルバムのタイトル曲
「ザ・マスカレード」は、
「仮面舞踏会」という意味。
サビの部分で
「本物のあなたへようこそ」
という詞があって、
「仮面を着けながら
自分をみつけた人にようこそ」
と舞踏会に歓迎する、
そんなストーリーになっている。
