Remains of the DONJON (castle tower) base and site of OHOKU
▼The donojon base was reconstructed a few times, and the last time was in 1658 one year after the Great Fire of the Meireki era in 1657, however, donjon itself was never rebuilt - mostly due to the contention of an influential elder statesman that they should spend money to reconstruct castle town instead of the castle tower which is rather old-fashioned.
The front side of the donjon base is the site of OHOKU public space for administrating government affairs, and only women are allowed to enter.
