わぁ！ なんという旅行でしょう！ 最低限、興味深い経験でした。数十年にわたって札幌氷まつりに行きたかったのですが、やっとバケットリストからチェックできました。でも、ニューイヤーイブのタイムズスクエアを体験するのと同じで、もう一度行く気はありません。雪と氷の彫刻がイベントの焦点でしたが、私にとってはほとんどが期待外れで商業化されていました。ただし、私を感動させた数少ない彫刻は本当に素晴らしかったです。しかし、早い夕方、彫刻が照らされるとき、人ごみがひどく、一部の人々が押しのけるように押し寄せてきました。主に日本またはアメリカではないある国の人々です。これに加えて、氷の歩道や通路ができたため、本当に災害のレシピになり、数人が負傷し、医療を必要とする人もいました。私もその中の一人です…（医師とのフォローアップ後に詳細を報告します）。旅行のハイライトは、美味しい食事と美しい花嫁と過ごした貴重な時間でした。日本の各地域には、それぞれが有名な料理がありますが、札幌は味噌ラーメンと新鮮なシーフードや寿司で有名です。当然、私たちは両方を楽しみました。さらに、寒い中で最も有名な小さなラーメン屋のために2時間並ぶことさえしました。 私の収穫：神が目の前に置いてくれるそれぞれの瞬間を楽しむこと。...そして、氷の彫刻のように、この人生とその中のすべてが一時的であることを認識し、最善を尽くすこと。押しの強い人々には彼らのスペースを与え、私の基準を彼らの基準に下げないようにすること。人生をゆっくりと楽しむこと。 最後に、私は自分の欠点を持っていても、キリストが私を愛してくださるように、他人を愛するように最善を尽くす必要があります。ただただ、家に戻って幸せです！
WOW!! What a trip! It was an interesting experience to say the least. I've wanted to visit the Sapporo Ice Festival for decades and can finally check it off the bucket list. But like doing Times Square on New Year's Eve, I don't care to do it again. While the snow and ice sculptures were the focus of the event, for me, most of them were underwhelming and over-commercialized. However, the few that impressed me we're truly amazing. But, in the early evening when the sculptures were illuminated, the crowds were ridiculous with some people pushing and shoving their way through; mostly people from a county that I won't name (not Japan or America). This, coupled with the icy walkways & paths created a genuine recipe for disaster and several people were injured, even requiring medical attention, including me... (More to follow on this after I follow up with my doctor).
The highlight of the trip for me was the food and precious time spent with my beautiful bride. Each region in Japan has a cuisine that it's famous for, and Sapporo is famous for its miso ramen and fresh seafood & sushi. Obviously, we enjoyed both, even standing in line for two hours in the cold for one of the most famous mom & pop ramen houses.
Takeaways for me. Enjoy each moment God puts in front of me. ...and like those ice sculptures, realize that this life and all things in it are temporary; make the best of it. Just give pushy people their space and don't lower my standards to theirs. Take our time in life. Finally, I need to do my best to love others as Christ loves me - even with all my faults.
