After an English conversation lesson last Sunday, my teacher and I went to see the Tennouji temple in Yanaka, It was 3 minutes from the north exit of JR Nippori station. We went through the Yanaka cemetery which has a lot of old and big cherry trees. It was raining and it almost empty in the cemetery, I thought if I were alone, I couldn’t have gone ahead because I’m chicken. On the way to the temple my teacher found several pretty shaped gourds and I took pictures. When we reached the temple it was refreshing sight and I recognized an old friend. She had come here with her husband and asked me if I was conducting a foreign guest. I answered he is my English conversation teacher and I was being conducted because he knows Japan very well. There was a beautiful giant statue of Buddha which like Big Buddha in Nara, but it was smaller than Big Buddha. We found Momiji trees ( a kind of maple trees ) around the statue. It had not changed red but had many seeds covered with a tiny fish shaped hull. My teacher told me that it is very beautiful when the hulls fall spinning. It began raining hard and we found a unique drain spout. It was just small cups lined vertically and the water overflowed from one cup to another. He took the pictures of drain spout and I took a picture of him taking a picture eagerly. And then we heard a woman say, “Please come in”. We entered the old building and a monk gave us Japanese green tea. We enjoyed the serene hush of an old clock and heavy rain. The heavy rain gave us such a nice time, and I forgot the time and place for a while.
