The 13th through 16th of August is called Obon in Japan.

Obon is a Buddhist event and one of the most important traditional events for Japanese people.

People spend the Obon holiday in their hometown.

However my hometown is Tokyo, so I usually spend Obon in the city.

I really envy for people those who have parents in the country.

I think a week in the country would do me good, but it's nearly impossible for me to take
a week vacation because I have two jobs now.

The city is deserted during the holiday and I can go to the office sitting in an uncrowded
train and buy 70% off clothes in an easygoing atmosphere.

So, it's not so bad to spend time in the city during peak of Obon.

There are a lot of companies which close during Obon.

Leaving many Japanese fathers free to do various family duties and you can see them exhausted traveling on the train surrounded by other holiday makers.

Such fathers came to our Internet Café and rest lying in a reclining chair.

They may get yelled at by their wives if they rest at home.
