英会話の授業に昨日の葉書と手紙を持って行きました。

封筒の裏の押し花シールを見て　"Pretty!" "Cute !!" と喜んでもらえました。

叔母さん自慢をしてきたわけですが、先生もまけじと次回のレッスンに叔母さんからの手紙を
持ってきてくれるといっていました。

どこの国でも叔母さんってステキな葉書や手紙を送ってくれるものらしいです。。。

さてさて、今回は昨日の記事をそのまま英訳してみました。

最初から英語で考えて書くよりも難しいかもしれません。

それでは、いってみよう！

朝顔を送った下井草の叔母から手作り葉書が添えられたお礼状が届きました。
I received a letter of thanks accompanied by three handmade postcards from my aunt 
in Shimoigusa to whom　I had presented a morning glory　the other day.
 
その葉書には墨と水彩で「朝顔」「ほうづき」「コスモス」が画かれていました。
The postcards were painted“Morning glory”, “Houzuki” and “cosmea” in Japanese 
ink and water color.

この叔母から送られてくる葉書にはいつもこのような絵が描かれて、その上達筆。
The postcards from my aunt are always painted like this and written in a good hand.

何年か前の年賀葉書に私も叔母のまねをしてみたのですが、とてもとても及びませんでした。
I tried imitating my aunt and wrote New Year’s cards some years ago,   
however I was far inferior to her.

いつかはこんな風に筆で文字と絵を描いてみたいものです。
Ｉ’d like to write and paint with the Japanese ink brush like this.

今回は手紙の最後に俳句が書いてありました。
The last line of the letter had a haiku poem;
  
  《 Haiku: an unrhymed verse form of Japanese origin having three lines containing 
            usually five, seven, and five syllables respectively; also : a poem in this 
            form usually having a seasonal reference.》

　生れし地の　
　　　　
　　　　入谷朝顔

　　　　　　　なつかしき

　The meaning of the haiku poem is that she was born near by Iriya and has happy 
　memories of “The morning glory festival in Iriya”

私のご自慢の叔母です。
I’m proud of my aunt.

この叔母からの葉書は、ついついお友達に見せびらかしてしまいます。。。
So, I feel myself compelled to show off the postcards to my friends.

で、ブログのお友達にも見せびらかします。
And to my blog friends now !!
