■Asahi survey: Officials can-t locate 1,588 children in Japan：
Government officials cannot confirm the whereabouts or safety of nearly 1,600 children in Tokyo and 29 prefectures, an Asahi Shimbun survey showed.
Many of the cases likely involve children who simply do not go to school, parents who are negligent or abusive, or non-Japanese spouses who have taken their kids overseas.
