神は健全に引かれた境界を無視したり
また悪に目をつぶったりするようにと
教えているように思えるかもしれない
そうではなく意図的な本当の謙虚さを
示すこと—他者のアイデンティティを
その言葉や行動に還元するのではなく
自分自身と他者に内在している尊厳を
認めるようわたしたちは招かれている
他者の魂を裁いたり行動の後ろにある
意図を—わたしたちの傷ついた人間性
のうちに複雑に幾重にも折り重なって
存在するものを—推測したりするなど
人間のわたしたちには決してできない
神はそれら永遠の尊厳を擁護しながら
それがたとえ堕落したものであっても
両者の人間性を認める道を示している

“It may seem the Lord is telling us
to ignore healthy boundaries
or turn a blind eye
to the evils that assail us.
On the contrary, Jesus is inviting us
to adopt a posture of true humility
with intentionality, a posture
that recognizes the inherent dignity
in ourselves and others,
instead of reducing another’s identity
to their words or actions.
It is never our place as humans
to judge another person’s soul, nor
assume the intent behind their actions,
which is complex and layered
in our wounded humanity.
