ロードキルボーラレスキュー大作戦 in 台風！！

え～、これ覚えています？？

You may remember.....

滋賀県からの帰り、東名高速道路の静岡県に入った直後のトンネルの中で、突然変な異音が……その後、チャージランプが点灯し、パワーステアリングが死亡、そして水温が急上昇！！！

On the way from Shiga, I heard strange noise in the tunnel on the Tomei highway just after I entered Shizuoka, then charging light was come up, power steering was dead and water temp was jumping to high !!!!!

なんとか、高速道路上のバス停まで移動し、ぶっち切れたファンベルトを発見。そのままレッカーで、とりあえず近くの浜名湖サービスエリアへ移動させ、そこにボーラを数日間放置したのでありました。

I managed to move VW Bora to bus stop on the highway, then called AAA to tow to Hamanako rest area about 5 miles from this point. Then, I left VW for some days .....


で、４日後！

Then, 4 days later.....

大阪へ納車があるので、そのついでで、浜名湖ＳＡに立ち寄り、そこでボーラを修理することにしました。ところが！！

I decided to drop Hamanako rest area to fix my Bora on the way to deliver a car to Osaka area. BUT !!!

台風接近中！！！

Typhoon coming !!!!

浜名湖ＳＡに到着したときは、激しい雨と風だったのですが、ともかく修理スタート！！

When I arrived at Hamanoko rest are, the weather was terrible rain and windy, but no choice to start for repairing.

当然地面はびしょびしょで、こんなマットを敷いたところでまったく意味なし！あっという間に下着までびっしょり。

Of course the ground was covered by water and it was nonsense to put this kind of mat to keep my ass dry. Well, after a couple of minuets, my pants was totally wet.

ベルトが切れた原因は、テンショナーの破損。

This was the reason why fan belt was broken, auto tensioner was the history.

DDOOOOHHHH !!!

ちぎれたベルトをきれいに取り外して、持って行った新しいテンショナーとベルトを装着。

I removed all of craps and made it clean, then installed new tensioner and belt.

１時間半後、無事に修理完了。ですが、ボーラはもう一日ここに置き去りです。

After an hour and half, I completed repairing. But, I needed to leave my Bora for one more day right here.

着替えたのち、納車する車に乗って、大阪へ移動。その日は大阪に一日泊まりました。

After changing wet cloth, I drove down to Osaka. After delivering the car to the customer, I stayed night at Osaka.


で、翌日！！

Then, Next day !!!

台風直撃！！！

Typhoon strike back !!!!

この結果、新幹線がまず停止。新大阪駅は大混雑状態に。

As a result, Bullet train, Shinkansen was shut down. And massive chaos was happened at Shinosaka station.

浜名湖ＳＡに行くには、名古屋から高速バスに乗る必要があります。そこで、ルートを変えて、近鉄で名古屋へ向かうことに。

I needed to go to Nagoya in order to catch the highway bus to reach Hamanako rest area. So, I changed the route for Kintetu express to reach Nagoya.

運よく、近鉄特急に乗れました。で、天気は……

Lucky enough, I jumped in express train Kintetsu, then weather was.....

台風どこ行った！？

Where is the Typhoon !?

どうやら、台風はものすごい勢いで通過してしまいました。で、名古屋について、バスターミナルへ行くと……

Well, Typhoon was running so fast through the island, the I reached Nagoya and rushed into bus terminal.....

東名高速道路全面通行止め！！！

Tohmei highway was closed for all road !!!!

DDDOOOOOOHHHHH !!!!

とにかく、浜名湖ＳＡを目指さなければなりません。で、ちょうど動き始めた新幹線で、浜松まで移動することに。

Anyway, I had to reach Hamanko rest area to pick up my Bora, so I decided to take Shinkansen which just started to move, to reach Hamamatsu.

混んでいるかと思いきや、新幹線はガラガラ。ひとまず座って、タブレットで浜松から浜名湖ＳＡまでのルートを確認。

I thought Shinkansen must be packed with people, but reality was cool, the train was just a step before empty. So, I sat down and thought how to reach Hamanako rest area from Hamamatsu station.

唯一動いていた公共機関はバスでした。

Only bus network was working, so I took it.

バスもやっぱりガラガラ。

And bus was almost empty too.

途中、東名高速道路の上を通過したのですが、通行止めのためか、誰も走っていません。問題は、浜名湖ＳＡからどうやって、通行止めの高速道路を走るかです。

Bus was going over Tohmei highway, and nobody was running because highway was closed. So, problem was how to drive out from Hamanako rest area through closed highway......

バス停からは線路をすこし歩いて……

I needed to walk short a while from Bus stop....

STAND BY MEEEE !!!!

浜名湖ＳＡ到着！！！

I reached Hamanako rest area !!!!

台風どこ行ったぁ！！

Where is damn Typhoon !!!!

幸運なことに、清水まで高速道路が開通したので、高速を走ります。

And lucky again, Tohmei highway was opened to Shimizu I.C., so I drove through.

頭にくるくらいいい天気なんですが……

Well, the weather was sooooo good, damn it.

ところが、清水周辺でとんでもない交通渋滞に巻き込まれました。理由は……

However, sooo heavy traffic jam was occurred around SHimizu area, and the reason was.....

土砂崩れが、東海道線と国道一号線をふさいでいたんです。

Massive land sliding was covered railroad and road.

さらに、別の裏ルートも・・・・・

Moreover, other detour roads were......

DDDDOOOOOHHHHH !!!!

この後、闇夜の中、土砂崩れの恐怖におびえながら山道を走って……

Well, I was so scared but I had to drive through mountain road for miles in darkness, then......

大阪を出てから１５時間と３０分、ようやく戻ってきました……で、この大冒険をしたボーラはどうなったかというと……

15 hours and half after I started from Osaka, finally I reached to our factory.......so, as a result of this unexpected adventure......

エンジン祭り～！

ここのところ、どういうわけかエンジンの販売が好調で、非常に忙しい～んです。

I had no idea, but we were so busy to build engines recently.....

こいつはジャンククルーザーに載せるＬＴ１改。もうエンジンはできているんですが、クラッチがちょっとトラぶって、いまだにエンジンホイストにぶら下がったまま。

This was modified LT1 for Junk Cruiser. The engine itself was ready to install, but we got small trouble with clutch, so it was still hanging by engine hoist.

これは沖縄からオーダーの入った、３８５エンジン。３８３よりちょっとボアが大きくて３８５という変な排気量ですが、まぁ、３８３とほとんど同じです。アメリカにオーダーしたシリンダーヘッドがまだ送られてこなくて、それを待っています。

This was 385 engine which would ship to Okinawa. Well, 385 had a little bit larger bore than 383, but basically it was same. We ordered special cylinder heads to U.S. and still waiting.

これは、うちにあるデッドストックのパーツで組んだスペシャル３５０エンジン。今現在、オークションにて絶賛発売中（笑）。

This was special 350 motor that all parts were dead stock parts in our factory. Now, it was selling on net auction.

このほかにも、４５４、４６８、４９６、５０２、５７２と、エンジンの組み立てが待っており、お客様に引き渡す３５０、３８３、３９６とずらりと並んでいるわけで……

And 454, 468, 496, 502, 572 were still waiting to build, and we already finished 350, 383, 396.........

当然のことながら、工場がエラク狭いので、エンジンビルドファクトリーを独立させるべく、物件探しに奔走中です。

Naturally, we did not have enough space to stock and build those engines, so we were looking for other place for engine factory.....

フランス人め！！！

うちの工場にはタイヤチェンジャーやバランサーというものはありません。いつも、近くのショップでタイヤを組んでもらっているのですが……今日のタイヤ交換車両はちょっと戸惑いました。

We did not have tire changer and balancer. Always we asked neighbor shop to change tires. But, today, we wondered how to do taking balance on this wheel.....

プジョーのホイールなんですが、なんと、センターキャップがない。

This wheel was out from Peugeot, and wheel had not center cap.

つまり、ホイールのセンターに穴が開いていない！

That meant there was not hole in the center of wheel !!

ということは、バランサーに取り付けられない！！

That meant there was no way to mount this wheel on the balancer !!!!

DOOOOOOOHHHH !!!!


と思ったら、ちゃんとこういうアタッチメントがあるんですね。

But, there was this kind of adapter for balancer.....

というわけで、輸入車全般、すべてのタイヤ交換、承っております（笑）。持ち込み歓迎ですよ～！！

So, now we can call we do tire change for almost of all kind of car and light duty truck.

出張改造とジャンク

今日は、滋賀県まで出張改造。

Today, I got go to Shiga Pref. for working on customer's Jeep.

滋賀県とは、ずいぶん遠いと思われるかもしれませんが、まぁ、距離にして３５０キロ。高速道路で行けるので、大したことないのです。で、行った先は、うちのボディカスタムでお世話になっているボディショップエンジェルさん。ジープのボディリフトを依頼されて、ちょいと行ってきました。

Just in case you did not know where is Shiga, Shiga was located about 200 miles away from our factory, but it was not so big deal because massive highway system was connected, so it was a kind of easy to go. Body shop Angel which we quit often asked to make our body work and custom, was asking to me to do jacking up Jeep.

And this was AFTER.

なにが変わったのかよくわかんねーよ！！！

WHAT AN HECK WAS THE DIFFERENCE !?

ボディリフトとは、フレームとボディの間にブロックをかませて、ボディを持ち上げる手法なんです。今回は、５０ミリのブロックを挟みました。これくらいは結構簡単にできて、費用も抑えられるんです。

Well, this was Body lift that lift blocks were sandwiched between body and frame. I added 2 inch blocks and it was a kind of easy deal.


で、今回、ボディショップエンジェルまで来た理由は、前にDawnが買ったジープの部品どりを見ることなんですが……案内されたところには……

And one more reason why I came down to Body shop Angel, I needed to see a junk Jeep which I bought almost a year ago.....

......... オーケー！そのうち取りに来ますわ！！

破壊！！

最初に断わっておくと、別にここに紹介する出来事は、１日で起きたわけではないのですが……最近、どうも何かが壊れる傾向が強いんです（涙）。

To be honest with you, those happenings that I would introduce in this blog, were never happened in just one day. However, I felt so much something evil was going on that made everything tended to be broken.....

まず、さっきまでふつうに走っていた車を止めて、アイドリングさせていたら、突然とんでもないノッキングノイズが発生！！慌ててバルブカバーを開けてみると....

At first, I drove vehicle just a fine condition, then stopped and idled the engine, suddenly the engine started to make annoying knocking noise......well, I rushed to open valve covers and found.....

????????

DDDDOOOOHHHHH !!!!

なんと、ロッカーアームが折れています。これ、ちゃんとした社外品なんですよ・・・・

Well, broken rocker arms were there......those were not cheap junk, those were proper performance parts......

WHYYYYYYY !!!!!


次に、エンジンを自分でオーバーホールされているお客様からＳＯＳ。

Next, one of the customer who tried to overhaul the engine by himself, made SOS message to us.

シリンダーヘッドボルトのねじ穴がなめています……

Thread hole for cylinder head bolt was stripped......

DDDOOOOOHHHH !!!!

でも、ちゃんとこういう秘密兵器があるんです。

But, we had this secret weapon.

ブロック用のヘリサートキットなんですね。必要な方は問い合わせてください。

Well, I made it !!!!

I was a little bit over heated on the mountain pass road.......

And, this was final insult for us......
