How to Access Your Dropbox Billing Settings

For Dropbox Plus, Professional, Essentials, or Family accounts, log in to the Dropbox website. Click your avatar (profile picture or initials) in the bottom-left corner. Click Manage account. Click Billing in the left sidebar .

For Dropbox Standard, Business, Advanced, or Business Plus accounts, log in with your admin credentials. Click Admin console in the left sidebar. Then navigate to the billing section .

If you are on a Dropbox Family plan, only the Family manager can manage billing information .

How to Update Your Payment Method

Keeping your payment method up to date ensures your subscription renews without interruption. If your card expires or you want to use a different payment method, you can update it from your billing page.

For Dropbox Plus, Professional, Essentials, or Family accounts, go to your Billing page. Look for the Payment Method section. Click Update next to your current payment method. Enter your new payment details and click Save changes .

For Dropbox Plus, Professional, Essentials, or Family accounts, go to your Billing page. Look for the Plan section. Click Change plan. You will be taken to the Dropbox pricing page to choose a new plan. After selecting a new plan, the change is confirmed, and your card on file is either charged or refunded the difference .

For Dropbox Standard, Business, Advanced, or Business Plus accounts, plan changes are managed through the Admin console. The process may vary depending on whether you are adding or removing licenses .

How to Change Your Billing Name or Address

If your billing name or address has changed, you may need to update it for your records or to ensure your payment method works correctly.

Note: You can only change your billing name or address if you are on a Dropbox Professional or Essentials plan. If you are on Dropbox Plus or Family, the option may not be available .

To change your billing name or address, go to your Billing page. Click Edit next to your most recent invoice. Update your information and save your changes .

For team plans, admins can update the billing name or address in the Admin console. Scroll to Billing address under Products and click Update .

How to Cancel Your Dropbox Subscription

If you no longer need your paid Dropbox subscription, you can cancel it at any time. Your account will downgrade to the free Basic plan at the end of your current billing cycle.

For Dropbox Plus, Professional, Essentials, or Family accounts, go to your Billing page. Look for the option to Cancel plan. Select a reason for canceling and confirm the cancellation. You will receive a confirmation email .

What Happens When You Cancel Your Subscription

When you cancel your Dropbox subscription, your account remains active until the end of your current billing cycle or trial period. After that, your account downgrades to Dropbox Basic (free) .

What you keep:

  • Access to all your files and folders

  • Deleted files are kept for 30 days in case you change your mind

What changes:

  • Your storage limit drops to 2 GB

  • If you exceed the 2 GB limit, Dropbox may stop syncing your files and could delete files you own to bring your account below the storage limit

How to Cancel a Subscription Purchased on a Mobile Device

If you purchased Dropbox through the Apple App Store or Google Play, you cannot cancel through the Dropbox website. You must cancel through the platform where you made the purchase.

To cancel on Android:

Open the Dropbox mobile app. Tap the Account tab in the bottom right corner. Tap Manage your subscription. Tap How to cancel. Tap Cancel plan at the bottom of the screen. This takes you to your subscription in Google Play. Tap Cancel subscription .

If you canceled your subscription but changed your mind, you may be able to reactivate it.

If you are still within your current billing period, you can undo the cancellation. Go to your billing settings and look for the Undo cancellation option. Click it to continue your plan without interruption. You will not be billed again until your next billing cycle begins .

If your billing period has already ended, you will see a Reactivate subscription option instead. Click Reactivate Plan and enter your payment details to restart your subscription .

Common Subscription Management Issues

I cannot find the option to update my payment method. If you do not see the option to update your payment method, check which plan you are on. Free Basic plan users do not have billing settings. If you are on a paid plan but still do not see the option, you may have purchased your subscription through a mobile app store, in which case you need to update your payment method through Google Play or Apple .

My admin has left the company and I cannot access billing. If the original admin for your team account has left and their email was deleted, try recreating that email address. Once you have access, reset the Dropbox password for that account, log in, and set up a current team member as the new admin. Dropbox recommends setting up two admins in case this happens in the future .

I pay by manual invoice or through a reseller. If you pay by manual invoice or purchased your subscription through a reseller, you cannot update billing information through the Dropbox website. Contact Dropbox support or your account executive for assistance .
