She is a popular singer to enter the top 20 in the region
that use the Chinese, such as Malaysia and China and Taiwan.
At some point in the year 1971 or perhaps as late as early 1972 ,
a teenage girl named rui hua stepped into a cramped recording
studio near old airport road,
close to the tender loin district of Singapore known as geylang.
She recorded four short songs with a four piece band called The Silverstones.
Which are sung in mandarin, were subsequently releasedfor
sale as a7"45rpm extended play album on Sakura records,
The imprint of Fusan records and radio private company limited,
Which was owned by a man named siow kee lin .
The EP has no title and is known simply by the imprint code fm-1364
The cover features a snapshot of a smiling
pointing upward toward a cartoon cloud raining a golden shower.
On the album her name appears as Lin Ling, a stage name.
I can guess the approximate date of
the recording because it includes version of Credence Clearwater Rivival's
1971 smash hit "have you ever seen the rain ? "
However in this version ,
the lyrics have been changed from a melancholy
lament to an up-beat story about recalling meeting
a first love during a rain shower: it is a lovely bit of bubblegum pop,
un beau morceau. according to Mr. Siow ,
this EP was a strong seller for him, though he is old and,
he admits with a shrug, his memory isn't very good.

As for rui hua,he isn't sure but believes that she died several decades ago ,perhaps of cancer.
When he first signed her to SAKURA RECORDS,
she was about fifteen years old. not long after ,he released
FM-1364, which would have sold at the time for about one and half singapore dollars.
