RCA's WHP141 Consumer Headphones incorporate a 900 MHz transmitter that can provide a 150-foot operating range. The transmitter can even send the stereo signal outside the house, so you could attach the cradle/transmitter to your living room sound system, then listen in the yard using the headphones here . No line of sight restrictions exist like those that you get with infra-red. The system uses double phase lock loop (PLL) technology, which locks the frequency on three channels and helps with reception.
Instructions
1. Check that your audio source---the sound system---is connected to the cradle/transmitter and that the source is switched on if no sound is heard through the headphones. Make sure the headphones are charged, or that there's a fresh set of batteries installed in the headphones.
2. Take a look at the cradle/transmitter and make sure the light is lit. If it isn't, check the power supply to the cradle/transmitter.
3. Ensure that the distance between the headphones and the cradle/transmitter is within the operating range. Move closer to the cradle/transmitter if you are more than 150 feet away.
4. Change the transmission channel if the reception flutters in and out or you hear static. Three channels are available: 1, 2 and 3. The channels should match both the headphones and the cradle/transmitter. The channel switch on the cradle/transmitter is next to the power cable. 5. Keep a signal running through the cradle/transmitter to avoid having the unit automatically power off. When no signal is received through the cradle/transmitter's audio input cable, the device switches off. You can switch it on again by switching on your audio source.
