Manapol®でない普通のアロエベラ内皮のサプリだから?

土曜日に検索していてLTCI (Lymphocyte T-Cell Immunomodulator)というのを発見。

  •   Thymus Peptides. The thymus is “home” to the T lymphocytes attacked by FIV and is damaged in the early stages of FIV infection. There they are biochemically outfitted for their functions (hence the “T”) and sent forth. Some research suggests that thymus peptides may be beneficial in HIV treatment by helping the thymus to enhance the activity of CD8+ cytotoxic lymphocytes that limit FIV. There have also been claims that they raise T-Cell counts generally, as well as counts of Natural Killer (NK) cells of the non-specific immune defense. I am indebted to Martina Menz for bringing some of this research to my attention. Studies of a variety of oral and injectable thymic products (Thymomodulin, thymic humoral factor (THF), Thymostimulin, Thymopentin, etc.) have generally found that resistance to opportunistic infection is enhanced, and that those in the earlier stages of HIV might be particularly benefited. Absorption from the intestines is not good. The question of whether oral thymus peptides activate the CD4+ lymphocytes targeted by FIV (thus making them vulnerable to attack) and should be administered in the absence of antiviral agents has not been definitively addressed, although one study of Thymomodulin found no enhancement of the urinary levels of neopterin, a marker of T-cell activation. (Bud’s Dosage: Thym-Uvocal, 48mg twice daily)

  • Note: Lymphocyte T-Cell Immunomodulator ( LTCI), an injectable product now marketed by T-Cyte Therapeutics (http://www.tcyte.com), received a conditional license by the Center for Veterinary Biologics (APHIS) as an FeLV/FIV treatment aid in December, 2006, with renewal in 2009. Imulan Inc., the applicant, for a time formed a distribution alliance with ProLabs, Inc. The drug manufacturer, T-Cyte Therapeutics, evidently associated with Dr. Terry Beardsley, the developer, recently became the distribution arm in the U.S. and cites availability “abroad” through Masters Pharmaceuticals Ltd in the UK. The parent product of LTCI is derived from cloned thymic stromal cell lines that normally produce it in humans and other animals. The same drug has been variously called Epithyme and TISF [T Cell Immune Stimulating Factor] and is available in a sublingual version as ProBoost Thymic. All are incarnations of a Thymic Protein A isolated and developed by Dr. Beardsley in the 1980's. TPA is a peptide that, according to Beardsley and researchers associated with Imulan, (1) encourages maturing of CD4+ T lymphocytes in the thymus that might otherwise be inhibited by disease; (2) stimulates production of Interleuken-2 (IL-2), sometimes called T Cell Growth factor, which "primes" clonal expansion at sites where they are needed and where they can enable CD8+ cytotoxic lymphocytes (CTLs) to perform their function of killing infected cells; (3) induces “apoptosis” (spontaneous cell death) in virally infected cells and reduces viral load; and (4) is broadly hematopoietic, producing increases in other major cell groups besides lymphocytes, including red cells and platelets. Several studies in FIV+ cats have shown clinical benefit for symptomatic cats with significant decline in viral load and increase in bone marrow cell production. Suggested treatment protocol is injections weekly (1cc subcutaneous) for four weeks, every other week during the second month, and monthly or as needed after that.

It was also known that peptides extracted from thymus gland cells could somehow control the immune system’s response to viral attack. As a faculty member at the University of California, San Diego, Dr. Beardsley refined this cellular theory by being the first to clone thymic epithelial cells, successfully identifying and describing one of the immunoregulatory proteins involved in the process and the type of cells that produced it. Dr. Beardsley’s research findings culminated in a landmark publication in The Proceedings of the National Academy of Science5.

The First and Only USDA-Approved Treatment Aid for FeLV/FIV

  • FeLV and FIV Can Now Be Treated with LTCI

Veterinarians and cat owners have anxiously awaited development of a viable treatment for Feline Leukemia Virus (FeLV) and Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV) for decades. These widespread, incurable viruses—like HIV/AIDS in humans—suppress the immune system and increase the risk of other infections resulting from pathogens (like fungi, which cause ringworm) and bacteria (such as those causing stomatitis and upper respiratory disease). They are the most common causes of cancer in cats.

Now the time has come. A message of hope repudiates the sad, commonly heard refrain of “There is nothing to be done for a cat with FeLV or FIV.”

LTCI (Lymphocyte T-Cell Immunomodulator) is the first—and only—USDA-approved treatment aid for cats infected with FeLV and FIV, and the associated symptoms of lymphopenia, opportunistic infection, anemia, granulocytopenia, and thrombocytopenia.

Because LTCI is new to the market, it will take time for its scientific information to reach veterinarians and animal health organizations. Fortunately, veterinarians and pet owners alike have been very active in sharing the news that FeLV and FIV are no longer death sentences for their cats.

    How Does LTCI Work?

LTCI is a naturally-occurring, immune-modulating protein that helps restore a cat’s ability to fight infection. It eliminates impaired CD4 lymphocytes (infection-fighting, specialized white blood cells) and allows new, normal CD4s to produce the cytokines involved in increasing CD8 populations (the “killer” cells that go to infection sites, gobble up bacteria, find and destroy viruses in the body, and knock out cancer cells).

The result is normalization of blood parameters and resolution of opportunistic infections.

LTCI may not be a cure for FeLV or FIV, but when effective, it aids in the treatment of these deadly diseases by restoring (modulating) your cat’s normal immune system.

    Safety First

Clients depend on safe products for their pets’ well-being. Veterinarians demand safe products for treating ill patients. LTCI has completed formal safety testing. The homology of LTCI among mammalian species, as well as the absence of any observed adverse events in several animal species, suggests that LTCI has a very low toxicity profile.
