TOEFL iBT対策～Writing編～

ツクツクボウシが鳴き出すと夏の終わりを感じてちょっと切なくなります。笑

小学校のころはこの時期いつも宿題に追われてたなー。

どーも林です！！！

今日はTOEFL対策で自分がやったことをちょっとまとめときます。

以前Reading&Listeningについては↑↑↑に書いたので今日はWritingについて・・・

TOEFL iBT：Writing section

このセクションでは2つの形式の問題が1題ずつ出ます

①文章を読む→文章に関する講義を聞く→この内容を要約する

②あるテーマに関する小論文

っていう感じの2つの問題。

①に関しては、重要なのはリスニングの方。文章だけを要約してもほとんど点にならないので注意。

ちなみに俺は初めてTOEFL受けた時①のリスニング部分が全く聞き取れず、ただ文章要約のみやって惨敗。笑

②に関しては、うまくやれば一か月でかなり点数は伸ばせると思います。

この問題は30分の制限時間で300語以上の文章を書くことが条件。

※語数が足りない場合は点数下がります。

点数を上げるために意識したこと

①Introduction→Body→Conclusionの流れをしっかり。

②抽象から具体へ・・・(嘘を書きまくる。笑)

③多様な表現方法(同じ内容に触れるときもできるだけいろいろな単語、表現を使う。paraphrase)

これを意識したら15点→24点に上がりました。

①とか③とかはまあわかると思いますが、②はまじでやり方次第です！！

大事なのは事実でなくてもいいので嘘を書きまくってより具体的なBody部分を作ること。笑

例）「大学寮か大学周辺アパートどちらに住みたいか？」という問題に答える場合

選択→dormitory

理由→cost and convenience ってする

Introduction(私は、寮が良い。理由は、費用と利便性で利点があるからだ。)

ex) While it may be true that some people believe a private apartment has lots of benefits, I prefer a dormitory in university to a private accomodation. There are two reasons for this: cost and convenience.

Body①

まず、寮は費用が安い。

To begin with, the residence fee of a university dorm is far cheaper than that of a private accomodation.

↓

例えば大学寮の家賃は～円であり、公共料金も含まれている。

For instance, it costs only 20,000 yen per month to live in the university dorm in Japan.

↓

これに対して私が住んでいる横浜の１ルームアパートの平均家賃相場は～円であり寮の価格の3倍もする。

On the other hand, the average residence fee in Yokohama is 60,000 yen. That is to say, students living in a private apartment have to pay three times as much as students living in a university dorm.

（※嘘でも全然OK。笑）

Body②

次に、寮はあらゆる面で便利である。

Next, a university dormitory is really convenient for students because of many factors.

例えば大学寮は基本的に大学まで徒歩数分の距離なので、朝の通学にあわてる必要もない。

The following is example of the convenience of living in a uni dorm: since the distance between the dorm and university is really short, students do not have to rush early in the morning, and spend much time in a crowded train. If students can save much time in the morning, they can spend the saved time on a meaningful activities such as running, reading book, listening music and so on.

それにたいていの場合、あらゆる店が大学のすぐそばにあるので、学生は快適に生活できる。

Furthermore, in general, there are lots of super markets, drugstore, and other shops near a university in Japan, so they could make students' life comfortable. In fact, it takes less than 5minutes from my university house to a drugstore or supermarket.

(もちろん嘘でOK。笑)

Conclusion（以上に述べた理由で私は寮が良い。）

In conclusion, there are lots of benefits to live in a university dormitiry, I prefer living in a university house to living in a private apartment.

まあ簡単に書くとこんな感じでやりました。極端な例やけどもこんな感じで普通に最低でも20は超えます。

大事なのは、赤字のところのように数字や具体例を含めてより具体的に書くこと！！

数字とか入れると字数も稼げるし、具体的で論理的な文章になると思います。

ちなみにまったく裏付けのない嘘を書いても、その内容で減点とかはされないから大丈夫です。笑

自分はこんな感じでやりました。まあ気が向いたら試してみてください。

もっと良いやり方があれば教えてください。笑
