At church last week we talked a little about changes that we will be making and one of them is beginning a First Tuesday service. What's that you ask? Well, it's an evening service of worship, praise and prayer where we also have the Lord's Supper. The exciting part of me is that since we are a new church and are small we've been using an iPod with music in the background that the worship team has been singing along to.
It's worked out very well for us since we're all new to this and aren't all that confident with the strength of our vocals yet. But the Spanish service does have a band and we will be playing together on First Tuesday! Not only that but since it will be a combined service we will be singing in both English and Spanish.
It's been a while since we worshiped that way and personally I love it and so do most of the members, Tina included. Tomorrow I'll be meeting with the Spanish worship leader and go from there, we need five songs for March so we will need to start practices as soon as possible. So far on the list is Open The Eyes Of My Heart, How Great Is Our God, Revelation Song and Trading My Sorrows, these are ones that we know at least the choruses in Spanish but if the band knows the music remains to be seen. Anyway, this is really exciting for me as I am just waiting for God to bring the English service a worship band.
I know that He is preparing us for the things to come - great things to come that I am not just believing Him for but waiting anxiously for. I know that GCC will be doing great thing in the future in the area and I want us to be ready. We will also be moving from all professional background vocals to simply worship tracks as we can find them available. The first one we're doing is You Are Good. Vocally it's easy to sing so it's a good launching point for the English team. I love music and I love to sing. It's honestly something that comes from my soul, it's not something I do, it's something I *am* and when I'm up there singing on Sundays I am laying my soul bare in front of everyone. I want to bring each and every person in the room into the presence of God, I want their hearts to reach up to Him with the music and to be ministered to with the words, encouraged to keep going and to leave feeling closer to Him.
