Taro Yamamoto was a rising film star who sacrificed his career to fight the scourge of nuclear power. He campaigned tirelessly and was elected to the Japanese Parliament and uses his position of power to advocate for Japanese children exposed to radioactive contamination from the Fukushima nuclear disaster.
He has been viscously attacked by the nuclear industry for his advocacy, and criticized for
bringing up this important issue to the Emperor during a garden party on Thursday, October 31, 2013.
Yamamoto said, "I wanted the Emperor to know about the children who have been contaminated by radiation. If this goes on, there will be serious health impacts."
