Today went to Silver Dollar Theme Park which is tuc ked away the Ozark Mountains of Missouri, USA. There is rich history s surrounding the grounds and is by far one of the most unique theme parks have ever been to. If you are loo king for an iconic southern American experience this is it.

Sadly I didn't get any pictures of the food we had, but my personal favorite was the handmade salt water taffy. Bubblegum is my favorite flavor!! 🩷

The park was opened on May 1st 1960 in the theme and style of a 1880s Ozark mountain town.

Now the cool thing about this park is that it has REAL buildings from the time period. This is called Birdle's Cabin. A woman named Birdle Mannon made the cabin in 1916 and she lived there until she was 90!

This church was built in 1849 and originally began as a school house before being abandoned. It was dismantled log by log and put back together in the theme park in 1960.

We got to enjoy some traditional bluegrass music. 🪕🎶

For those who may not know, bluegrass is a genre that originated in the 1900s Appalachian Mountains using banjos and other string instruments. It's a mix of African American music like jazz or blues and European music like Irish fiddles. What a great example of the American melting pot.

Last but not least they had a neat little steam engine train from 1938!! It is powered by house fuel oil which is the same oil we use in our homes. 🚂
