Immediately I thought of an artifact from long ago — a repair manual I bought in college to help maintain my 1963 VW Beetle. Christopher Boucher, who has been traveling cross country in his 1971 VW bug, reads from his critically acclaimed debut novel How to Keep Your Volkswagon Alive. I read about this on the Dead Bus Diaries, which links to an nice obituary. Boucher derived his novel's title, was itself full of spiritual wisdom. At first I was reluctant because it seemed like a huge mountain to climb with me not having any experience. Don's contributions to us sometimes remind me of John Muir's book and his love of VW's.
