クリスマスを目の前に…

（パート１）

ハイウェイに立っている
女の姿が道ばたに見えた
僕に似た顔が窓に映った
彼女は僕の車にやって来て
ゆっくりと体を前に傾けた
恐怖で僕は動けなくなった

僕の影のなかで彼女が言う
息子よ、ここで何してるの
心配で墓から出てきたのよ
僕は答えた、ママ、僕は
金持ちに成りあがるのさ
彼女は言った、息子よ
この道は地獄へ向かっているのよ

荒野を横切る旅の途中で
オアシスを見つけるつもりが
地獄への道をさまよっていた

僕は川岸に立っているけれど
川に水は流れていない
あらゆる毒で汚染されたのだ
僕は街灯の下にいるけれど
僕の知っている喜びの光は
信じ難く恐ろしい影を投げかける

暴力に対する屈折した恐怖で
人々の微笑みが歪む
常識が警鐘を鳴らしている

これは環境破壊だけじゃない
破滅へと僕らは歩いている

道には債権が渦巻いても
ただ手を広げて見てるだけ
紙切れが手元から
飛び去るだけのことさ

世界をよく見てごらん
何が次に起きるのか
早く教訓を学んで
よく考えなきゃならない

Scared beyond belief way down in the shadows

And the perverted fear of violence
Chokes a smile on every face
And common sense is ringing out the bells

This ain't no technological breakdown

And all the roads jam up with credit
And there's nothing you can do
It's all just bits of paper
Flying away from you

Look out world take a good look
What comes down here
