"What you may call it"の省略です。

あれ持っている、あれ、あの～ホッチキス？
This word is a placeholder word.
We use them when we forget a word or when we don't know a word.
We often hope our conversation partner will remind us!
英語にこういう言葉は沢山あります。
忘れている（それとも知らない）ものとか人の名前の代わりに使います。
話の相手が教えてくれるという願いも込められています。
