RFID in Library Management

With the rapid progress of the times, learning has become a new fashion, and the phenomenon of knowledge economy has become increasingly prominent. Various libraries have been frequently visited by all walks of people. The large variety of books, huge numbers, and fast borrowing turnover are also bothering the staff. The application of RFID in library management system has solved these problems.

Smart Library Management System Using RFID

The rfid based library automation system includes a series of automated management systems such as the librarian service system, the chip conversion system, the self-booking system, the self-service book return system, the inventory management system, and anti-thief system. Each book is affixed with an RFID tag, and an RFID detection machine is installed at the exit of the library. When someone leaves the library with books or other media materials without authorization, the RFID detection machine will trigger the alarm. If someone tries to avoid the alarm and take the book away, the library can still track the RFID book and get it back.

Library Management System Using RFID

In recent years, RFID technology is more and more popular. RFID library management system makes reading easier!

1. The data can be updated: barcode is not changeable after printed, while the RFID tag data can be added, modified, and deleted without limitation.

2. Convenient data reading: The bar code reader can read only when the scanning light source is irradiated on the barcode and when the bar code reader is close and there is no obstruction. RFID tags can transmit signals as long as they are within the range of radio waves.

3. Large storage capacity: capacity of 1D bar code is 50 bytes, while the maximum capacity of 2D bar code can store 2 to 3000 bytes; the maximum capacity of RFID tags can store several megabytes.

4. Fast scanning speed: several data can be read at the same time. The barcode reader can only read a single barcode data at a time; the RFID tag reader can identify multiple tags at the same time.

5. High security: The reading of RFID tags of library books is all password-protected, and the high-security protection measures make it difficult to be counterfeited

6. Durability: Generally, barcodes made of traditional paper or plastic materials are sometimes difficult to be identified due to damage caused by rain or humid environment and during transportation. RFID can be used repeatedly - hundreds of thousands or even millions of times. Its material can also be placed in a relatively harsh environment, so it is more durable than barcodes, so that its operation costs are also less.

7. Small size: Traditional magnetic barcodes are limited in size and are not easy to be affixed on smaller items. The RFID tag is not limited on that because its mini size can be hidden in various objects.
