By the end of January, I was giving you all the details on the opening of our new hotel in Bora Bora, by promising to get back to you some time in March.
We’ve just come back from a detailed inspection of the Bora Bora facilities and I would like to share with you, as usual, my most sincere comments and thoughts.
We will honour our commitments to open on May 1st and we are still willing to manage the months of May and June as two smooth pre-opening months with a limited occupancy.
The latest outstanding news is undoubtedly that the first step in the set up of our deep seawater air-conditioning system has been successfully accomplished. We have laid 2.4 kms of pipes at a depth of 915 meters, along the reef on the sea side – a first worldwide. We will draw water from a depth never achieved before, use it in the air-conditioning system of the entire resort and provide extremely pure water at the thalassotherapy centre…
What can I say about the different constructions on land or over the water?
Overwater villas
As planned, they will be ready to accommodate their first customers on May 1st.
The Restaurants-Bars
The Restaurants "The Sands" and "The Reef" will be completed. A few minor works will still be carried out some time in May as well as the set up of sun screen blinders and the painting of details in the Reef.
As for the bar, the counter will be delivered by the end of April.
The tiling of the swimming-pool is almost completed and it will be operational in the middle of April. The furniture will be delivered by the beginning of April.
Boutiques
A mini boutique will be available on a provisional basis in May and June as we finish the fitting-out of the two main boutiques.
By May 1st, all the main services will be operational. However, some workers finishing the painting and the set up of a few lightings in some premises will still be around.
The Wedding Chapel will be covered, so no more heavy works will be carried out in this area. The opening time remains in September.
The Thalasso Spa center will be completely remote, the construction will take place inside and will thus not be visible. Some noise inside can still be expected. The opening date remains September 1st.
The massage therapies, facial care…: They will be given in three suites especially fitted for, in the gardens during the finishing off of the Thalassotherapy centre. Massages in the rooms will obviously be available.
The gardens: a hard work is currently being undertaken by about thirty landscape gardeners in order to provide this hotel with a green luxury aspect but the garden works will continue until the end of June.
The tennis court will be operational by the end of June.
The Heliport will be operational by the beginning of September.
As you may have noticed, the tension has reached its climax and more than 200 workers from all sectors are working hard to open this hotel in time. We will be occupying the premises around April 10th and the 170 staff members available (including those from the Moana) will be ready to ensure the best service to our customers, from the very beginning, on May 1st.
I believe I didn’t leave out any square meter of the resort and would like to apologize for the comprehensive and detailed inventory of fixtures, but I really wanted you to have the most precise and accurate information. They will – of that I am certain – contribute to reassure you, in case you needed it.
