宮城県の仙台市の「仙台七夕まつり」、愛知県安城市の「安城七夕まつり」と並んで、日本三大七夕祭りの一つとして知られる神奈川県平塚市の「湘南ひらつか七夕まつり」。今回で72回目を迎え、七月五日から三日間行われた。五日の午後に札幌からフェリーとバスを乗り継いで首都圏入りした小生は、翌六日に平塚市を訪れ、市のメインストリートを飾る数々の七夕飾りや、このようなお祭に付き物で「湘南ひらつか織り姫」と呼称されるミス三人を目にした。（TANABATA [Star or Vega] Festival in Japan--originating from a Chinese legend--has traditionally been to pray for a good weather on July 7 so that Vega and Altair in the sky, who used to be in intimate relationship but has been allowed to meet once a year only on this day, can make rendezvous across the Milky Way. Among many TANABATA festivals in Japan, the one held annually in Hiratsuka City in Kanagawa Prefecture has a reputation of one of the three most famous such festivals in Japan along with the one in Sendai located in northeastern Japan and in Anjo in central western Japan. This year's was the 72nd of this event dubbed "Shounan-Hiratsuka TANABATA Festival" and lasted three days starting July 5. As for me, I visited the city on July 6 after my arrival in the Tokyo Metropolitan area on the preceding day upon completing bus and ferry rides from Sapporo. I enjoyed watching a variety of TANABATA decorations on some major streets as well as three "VEGA Queens" selected for this year's festival--a common feature for this kind of festival.)

暑い中、沢山の人々が足を運んでいました。

市内の文化芸術大ホールでダンスチームの演舞も行われ、小生も見てきましたが、許可された人以外撮影禁止だったので、その折の画像はありません。
