2019年11月に訪れた小豆島滞在最終日の11月7日は、土庄からバスで福田港へ赴き、そこから姫路行のフェリーに搭乗。約一時間半の船旅は、家島諸島の西側を通る航路で、途中何かの鉱物を採掘している島の傍を通った。調べてみると、建築資材として花崗岩と安山岩を採掘しているとのことである。（Trip to Shoudoshima Is. in 2019 [8 (fin)] Voyage to Himeji: On November 7--the final day during my stay on Shoudoshima Island in Japan's Inland Sea back in 2019--I took a bus ride from Tonoshou, where I had been staying, to Fukuda Port. There, I boarded a ferry boat bound for Himeji on the Inland Sea coast of Japan's mainland of Honshu. During this voyage lasting about one and half hours, the ship passed through the water to the west of an archipelago known as Ieshima Islands. An island where excavation work was in progress caught my attention. According to some sources I consulted, they mine granite and andesite rocks as construction materials.）
