第23回えにわYOSAKOIソーランわくわくフェスティバル、八月二十八日（その３）和凛-KARIN-：上川郡和寒町の鳴呼ワットサムと稚内のわっかない最北烈風隊が合体した新チーム。コロナ禍で活動の場がないためだったからでしょうか。六月の本祭では以前と比べて人数が減ったチームが目立ちましたし、姿を消してしまったチームもありました。この新チームの元となった二チームは存続の危機を合同することで乗り切ったのでしょうか？であるならば、よさこいチームにも企業と同様に、M&A[合併・吸収]がトレンドとなるのかも。なお、チームのSNSなどを見ましたが、「和凛」の名前の由来は定かではありません。（The 23rd annual YOSAKOI-Soran festival in Eniwa[3]和凛-KARIN-:two teams merged together to become this new team. Those two are NARUKO WATT-SAM from Wassamu town in central northern Hokkaido and WAKKANAI SAIHOKU REPPU-TAI from the city of Wakkanai at the northern tip of Hokkaido. In my observation of the YOSAKOi-Soran Festival back in June, quite a few teams had smaller number of members than before due most likely to COVID-19 scare that deprived them of opportunity to dance. Some teams even disbanded themselves. I wonder if forming a new team was a survival strategy adopted by these two teams. If that is the case, "merger and acquisition" could become a trend in the YOSAKOI community just as in the business world. [*Note: NARUKO is a wooden clapper-like instrument held by YOSAKOI dancers during their performance. SAIHOKU means "northernmost"--referring to the location of the city of Wakkanai as the northernmost community in Hokkaido, thus in Japan. REPPU-TAI literally means "fierce wind unit." Although I visited the SNS sites of the team, I was unable to figure out the origin or background of the naming of this new team.]）
