Letter 49: Writing Task 1 You should spend about 20 minutes on this task.

You are travelling overseas and you read a magazine that contains wrong information about your country.

Write a letter to the magazine editor. In your letter

  • Explain what the mistake is

  • Tell the magazine editor the correct information

  • Give details of interesting information of your country

Write at least 150 words.

You do NOT need to write any addresses.

Begin your letter as follows:

Dear Sir or Madam,

Dear Sir or Madam,

wrote in to inform you that I saw your latest issue of your magazine and I would like to report an erroneous information I read about my country.

I was born and raised in Korea and I know the stats of my country. You stated in your article that Seoul is the smallest city in Korea. But the truth is, Ulsan is the smallest city South Korea while Seoul is the capital of Korea.

Since I am already taking about my country, I would like to share to you an interesting information: next month, we will be celebrating our famous lantern festival. We hold this with a big event whereby we light up thousands of floating lanterns with our families in our small communities. It is really a beautiful sight and maybe you might want to feature it in your magazine.

Thank you very much for your attention and I look forward to your next issue.

Yours faithfully,

Hyung Lee
