Theory of cognitive development

Today I learned about theory of cognitive development. The textbook introduces the idea of Jean Piaget, Noam Chomsky, Jim Cummins and Lev Vygotsky. Especially I'm interested in "Zone of Proximal Development" by Vygotsky.

Typical English teaching methods

From yesterday I learned some typical English teaching methods in Japan. The lesson was difficult and time-consuming. Although each method has strength and weakness, I just learned those approaches from the textbook. If I have an opportunity to experience some English teaching methods, I will go.

Language acquisition

Today I learned about language acquisition. The textbook said the idea that people acquire language during mother-child interaction affects teaching foreign language, and now "interaction" is emphasized in teaching methods. I was attracted by "Silent Period" because I've experienced the same situation before. Anyway I got useful information today.
