So, I answered this question in dept about 5 months ago and have
provided more detailed information for you below on the subject,
generally. If you want to go higher in price, you can take a look at my
suggestions below. If not, then tuck it in your files in case you need
it.
As to your immediate question, boy, it's a toughy. The ones
listed below "start" at 12.99 and frankly, I'm not sure I would drink
any real sparking wine/champagne that was lower priced. Most that fall
below that are not generally drinkable, I'm sad to say. My first advice
is to buy something that is a bit more expensive and get it on sale.
Also
(and this is important), believe it or not, most people do not like
champagne and prefer beer or wine. A "Champagne Toast" is generally
wasted and most caterers are cleaning up glasses of champers left
untouched save a sip for the toast. Having catered a number of wedding
in my day, I would suggest you ease up on the number of bottles you buy
and get a little bit better stuff. When it comes time for the toast, ask
people if they would like Champagne or wine. Don't just shove a glass
in everyone's hand.
In any case, here are my suggestions.
YOUR
BEST BEST: switch to CAVA (which is Spanish "champagne."). Because it
is not well known, it's hard to find, but it's generally inexpensive. No
one (not even big champagne drinkers) will think twice and you'll get a
better quality product for not very much money. Go to a few stores or
call around. You'll find it and you can often get a good deal on it.
Domaine
St. Michelle is a pretty good dry one. You can get it on sale for 6.99 -
8.99. You really should go no cheaper (stuff like that Freixenet will
just give you a headache. It's terrible).
Barefoot Bubbly
(California sparkling wine) is also a pretty decent one. It can be
purchased on sale for roughly the same price as St. Michelle, sometimes
less. Always ask the manager if you can get a case discount. Many will
do that for you. Tell them you're the caterer. That's good for at least
15%.
The cheapest national brand I can recommend in good
conscious is Cook's Champage, which retails for about 6.00/bottle. I
would not drink it,Robes de bal
but I have tried it. It's drinkable and won't give you a headache.
In
short, if it's 3.99 a bottle, I'm not sure you or your wedding crowd is
going to be happy. Better you should concentrate on some wines that
don't sparkle. Trust me, robe mariee 2013
no one remembers anything good about a "bad" champagne toast.
Important
things first. Unless we have guests, I the only champagne drinker in my
house. What I do is drink about a third of the champagne each day for
three days in a row and it keeps fine. You can put a spoon in the top or
use one of those champagne stoppers if it makes you feel better, but
mine lasts fine for three days. Bonded Winery. There been some shifting
around and selling of brands but the product is still pretty good. Great
Western champagne is a safe Robes pas cher
bet, I think. It smooth and mellow without any yeastiness or really
exurberant notes. In other words, some people will love it, most will at
least like it and hardly anyone will hate it. It runs from $8 to $10 a
bottle. I heard that Taylor California Cellars is decent at about $7.00
per bottle. A little higher on the scale are wines from Dr. Konstantin
Frank. His Chateau Frank Celebre comes in at $19.99.
