In 1927 Mr. Riley hired a man by the name of Arthur Hall as a salesmen. Having a gift for pitching a product and knowing where his market was, Hall was able to get the arch supports Riley was manufacturing into the hands of people who needed them most. People who had jobs which required them to be on their feet for majority of the day. With Hall having such an impact on the company and improving sales, Riley made him an official business partner of New Balance in 1934.
Reaching Out to Europe – In addition to its core LI-NING brand, the company also distributes sports products under its Z-DO brand, and has established a joint venture with the French outdoor sports products company AIGLE, to manufacture, distribute and sell products with the AIGLE brand in the PRC. A similar agreement was reached with Italian based Lotto sports fashion brand, and has acquired Kason Sports, a leader in the research, development, manufacture and sale of professional badminton equipment.
By the 1970′s Converse had diversified and operated under three separate divisions, Sporting Goods, Footwear, and Industrial. In 1972 the company was sold to Eltra Corporation, which also purchased the footwear division of the B.F. Goodrich Co. including a modern manufacturing plant and distribution center in Lumberton, North Carolina. Converse continued to prosper, but by the late 1970′s was forced to pare down operations, spin off several product lines, and consolidate.
