【結婚式にて手紙の内容が明かされるシーン】Claireのみのセリフ
Dear friends, 50 years ago, I went to Juliet’s house in Verona.
I wrote her a letter and I asked her a question.
And two month ago, I received a reply.
And without that letter, none of us would be here today.
Sophie, would you mind if I read out the words you wrote to me?
All right?
Dear Claire, “what” and “if” are two words as non-threatening as words can be.
But put them together, side by side, and they have the power to haunt you for the rest of your life.
What if? What if? What if?
I don’t know how your story ended, but if what you felt then was true love then it’s never too late.
If it was true then, why wouldn’t it be true now?
You need only the courage to follow your heart.
I don’t know what a love like Juliet’s feels like, a love to leave loved ones for, a love to cross oceans for, but I’d like to believe, if I ever were to feel it, that I’d have the courage to seize it.
And, Claire, if you didn’t, I hope one day that you will.
All my love, Juliet.
この手紙を読むシーン大好きです!
【バルコニーにて】 S:Sophie(主人公)、C:Charlie(孫)
C: Sophie? Of course! A balcony. What are you doing up there?
S: I’m gonna go.
C: Why?
S: Because this is really painful. I should have realized sooner, but I didn’t or I guess maybe I couldn’t. but Victor and I aren’t together anymore. And I guess I came back hoping that…
C: Wait, wait. You’re not engaged?
S: No. But it’s too late. It’s clearly too late. And it really doesn’t matter anymore because, honestly, I love you. I can’t believe I just said that. But I do, I love you. It doesn’t…I mean, it shouldn’t matter to you, because you’re with Patricia.
C: Patricia?
S: And you should be back with her right now.
C: Patricia is my cousin. She’s my cousin.
S: How is that legal ?
C: No…Sophie…No. No, no, no. Let’s me explain! Sophie, I’m so stupid. There’s two Patricias. There’s my cousin, who’s here, and the one that I’ve completely forgotten about. More importantly, there’s only one Sophie.
Now, would you please come down?
S: Wait, Charlie. Charlie, stop. What are you doing? Charlie, what are you doing?
C: Listen to me. Listen to me very, very carefully. I live in London, a gorgeous, vibrant, historic city that I happen to love living in.
You live in New York, which is highly overrated.
S: Pardon me?
C: (Exclaims) But since the Atlantic Ocean is a bit wide to cross every day, swimming, boating or flying, I suggest we flip for it.
S: What are you saying?
C: And if those terms are unacceptable, leaving London will be a pleasure, as long as you’re waiting for me on the other side.
‘Cause the truth is, Sophie, I am madly, deeply, truly, passionately in love with you.
S: You are?
C: I am.
S: Are you gonna kiss me?
C: Yeah.
S: Oh, my God!
C: I can’t believe I just did that.
S: Are you okay?
C: Please tell me no one saw that.
S: Nobody saw it.
C: Good. That’s good.
S: Can you move?
C: Only my lips.
