こんにちは。
ときどきご紹介する、マニラの最先端ビジネス都市BGCの一角に、
第二次世界大戦中に戦没したアメリカ軍兵士、
およびアメリカ軍に従軍したフィリピン人兵士の
戦没慰霊公園がありました。
３月６日、バルーンフェスタ、アスレチック、菜園、ウェークボードと見学してきて
最後にここへ連れてきてもらいました。
敷地の中は、とてもきれいに芝が手入れされていて、広大で、
少し小高くなっている敷地から遠くまでよく見渡すことができました。
博物館へもどうぞ、と言われて足を踏み入れましたが、第二次世界大戦中の資料は
敵国日本のことが沢山記されており、、、、 少々いたたまれなくなりました。
こういう歴史を超え、いま、日本に好意をもって接してくださるフィリピンの方々がいることは
ありがたいです。
敷地の中心に、戦没者の名前が刻まれたモニュメントがありました。
このモニュメントに相対するように、マリア像が収められたチャペルもありました。

遠い昔のようで、まだ１００年もたっていない最近のこと。

Near BGC which I mentioned sometimes,
there is Manila American Cemetery.
This is the memorial park for people who were American and Filipino soldiers and died during the WWII.
On 6th March, I was took here by a Filipino friend after visiting Balloon festival and so on.
I did not imagine such a spacious and beautiful area was there.
We can oversee a nice view from the parking area.
The staff invited us to view the museum there.
There were lots of writings about "enemy Japan."
I felt sorry for that.
I appreciate that many Filipino friends are nice to me and like Japan nowadays.
There is a monument that soldiers' names are on.
In front of this monument, there is a chapel.
This is inside.
Outside of the chapel.
It is not so long ago. Only 70 years ago.
