The subject matter of Byron's The Vision of Judgment is partly writing and part political, but its spring was Byron's abhorrence of Cant and feigning.
On the extermination of King George III, old, mad, and blind, in 1820, the Poet Laureate Robert Southey produced a praiseful nursery rhyme. Written in unrhymed hexameter, its attempts at nobleness achieved no much than a tired bravado. But far worsened was its hypocrisy and creepy speech. Entitled "The Vision of Judgment" it showed George III's finish entryway into the gates of part and the damnation of his enemies.
