仮定法現在は、話し手の「現在は実現していないこと」に対する要求、提案などを表現するのに用います。代表的な文の形は、主節＋that節 となり、that節内の動詞は原型となります。このとき時制の一致や三単現のsには影響されません。
代表的な動詞として、ask、demand、order、request、prefer、propose、 insistなどがあります。
A defendant asked that we be lenient.
被告は、我々に寛大であることを求めた
We proposed that the machine (should) be replacecd.
私達は、その機械を交換することを提案します
主節の proposed に合わせて、was となったり、主語の machine に合わせて、is となったりせず、原形動詞 be を使います。should を使うこともありますが、この時の should は、すべきである、とは訳しません。
仮定法現在の否定文は、動詞の前に notを入れて作ります。
The students demanded that the rule not be changed.
生徒たちは、ルールが変更されないことを要求しました
My father insisted that we not stay home all day.
父は、私たちが1日中、家にいないように求めました

彼は電話を１本かけることを許可されるべきだと主張した
He has requested that he provide a corrected version of his initial proof.

He proposed that a border be drawn to the north of the islands .

I would prefer that the meeting be postphone.
打ち合わせを延期してほしいと思う
The father of our nation ordered these words be read to the people.
