ESL 1 -

In yesterday's ESL 1 class we focused a lot on beginning sounds (alphabet), sightwords (body parts and weather related), as well as writing the letter G/g.

The students also learned about a new Community Helper - the dentist, through a sequencing activity, and general vocabulary building through a look and find activity with vocabulary flashcards. The students also did a memory and matching game with weather terms:

ESL 3 -

For the ESL 3 class, the main focus was on the science experiment we did in class this week. The students learned what happens to a drawing when you put it behind a glass of water, it may cause the image to flip in the other direction or just look oddly. This is due to light refraction found in the water.

Along with that, we studied compound words, the difference between whoose and who's, and wrote about a place we want to travel to. The students came up with these sentences all on their own, with very little to no help on sentence structure or vocabulary (the exception being "ruins," that was a new word!).
