本日は、その他の接続詞について書かせていただきます。
❶その他の接続詞には、〈both A and B〉のような相関接続詞と、〈as soon as ~〉のような群接続詞とがある。
❷相関接続詞
（１）〈both A and B〉「AもBも両方」
The hamburger is both delicious and cheap.
（そのハンガーガーは美味しくて安い）
（２）〈eitger A or B〉「AかBかどちらか一方」
Either you or I should clean the room.
（あなたか私かどちらかがその部屋の掃除をしなければならない）
（３）〈not A but B〉「AではなくB」
She is not a singer but a TV personality.
（彼女は歌手ではなく、テレビ・タレントだ）
（４）〈not A but (also) B〉「AだけでなくBも」
He can play not only the guitar but also the piano.
（彼はギターだけでなくピアノも弾ける）
❸群接続詞
（１）〈as long as ~〉「〜かぎり、〜さえすれば(=only if)」
You can stay here as long as you are quiet.
（大人しくしていればここにいてもいいよ）
（２）〈as soon as ~〉「〜するとすぐに」
I got my coat off as soon as I entered the room.
（部屋に入るとすぐに私はコートを脱いだ）
（３）〈even if ~〉「たとえ〜であっても」
Eat the carrots even if you don't like them.
（好きでなくてもそのニンジンを食べなさい）
（４）〈as if~〉「まるで〜かのように」
She sings as if she were a professional singer.
（彼女はまるでプロの歌手のように歌う）
（５）〈so ~ that...〉「とても〜なので... 」
The quiz is so difficult that they can't answer it.
（そのクイズはとても難しいので彼らには答えられない）
（６）〈such ~ that...〉「とても〜なので…」
It is such a difficult quiz that they can't answer it.
（それはとても難しいクイズなので彼らはそれに答えられない）
