8月29日のおしゃべりclub Bでの会話を一部ご紹介します。
Black Lives Matter運動と白人俳優
コロナ禍で様々な産業が影響を受けていますが、映画業界も例外ではないようです。そんな中、映画製作のメッカ、ハリウッドではもう一つの嵐が吹き荒れています。それは、白人俳優たちが被っている “reverse racism"です。昨年来活発なBlack Lives Matter運動の煽りで、ハリウッドの白人俳優たち（特に男性）が隅に追いやられている(be marginalized)のです。オスカーを獲得したことがある有名な黒人監督は、「白人男性俳優は散々見てきたからもうキャスティングする必要がない。」とまで言っているそうです。
こんな動きに対する参加者の意見は…
It’s strange. Casting should be decided depending on each actor’s talent, not on their race.
といぶかしむ意見が出ました。また、
If this trend continues, we might lose chances to see handsome white movie stars like Brad Pitt or Leonardo DiCaprio. What a shame!
という感想もありました。
But this may be an inevitable trend. It is predicted that white people will be a minority within 30 years in the United States. It’s no wonder they are gradually losing their dominant power.
と、冷静に客観的なデータを示してくれる参加者もいました。White male chauvinism（白人男性優位主義）終焉の一端を見たようです。
翻ってここ日本では、主流な立場を保持して来られた男性たちの失言、失態がしばしば報道されます。最近の例では、名古屋市長の金メダルかじり事件があります。

という参加者もいれば、
He probably tried to appeal to younger generations by mimicking the gesture of other Olympic medalists. But that was wrong. Biting someone else’s medal is, of course, rude and unhygienic.
という意見も。そうかもしれません。悪気なく気さくな雰囲気を出そうと思って裏目に出てしまったのでしょう。時流は変わります。男女平等、人種平等が徐々に実現されて行く中、dominantであるはずの人々の失言、失態が厳しく注目されているようです。
