If you work and earn a certain amount of income, it doesn't necessarily mean that you will have a hard time living, and it doesn't mean that you can't own property such as a house or a car. You can save it up and use it for something, or invest it and dream of getting rich. You don't have to keep in touch with the government. So, there is a certain amount of benefit to switching to basic income.
